Cons Best Uses Comments about RadioShack 288°F (140°C) Thermal Protector Fuse: Just to note, this thermal fuse can be soldered if you use a clip-on heatsink between the fuse and the solder joint. However I used a thermal controlled soldering iron so I could adjust the temperature (about 30W works fine).
Pros Cons Best Uses Comments about RadioShack 288°F (140°C) Thermal Protector Fuse: I have used these to repair blow dryers, box fans, portable heaters, etc. It seems that nearly all of our appliances contain this component and at some point it decides to fail. But heed this bit of advice: this component must be replaced using crimp connectors! The first time I replaced one of these I mistakenly soldered it into place, which (of course) overheated it and caused to fail.
Pros Cons Best Uses Comments about RadioShack 288°F (140°C) Thermal Protector Fuse: This fuse got a dead dehumidifier up and running perfectly for [$] doesn't get much better than that. Replaced fuse which is mounted on fan motor windings. Small bone to pick, as previous reviewer said, the package says 139º C, not 140 as website says. 10 amp capacity is plenty for my application. Glad I could replace the fuse rather than jumper it and give up safety protection for overheating.
Pros Cons Best Uses Comments about RadioShack 288°F (140°C) Thermal Protector Fuse: Good to have these available for repairs, but the actual part 270-1320 is labeled 282 degF/139 degC (not 140degC as above)--close but would be nice to have the website match the part.
