Just like everyone says noise and feedback, RadioShack really needs to go back to the drawing board on this product. Don't waist your time or money.

Normally, the right and left channels are split to tip and sleeve. This adapter splits it to tip and center connector (ring). So, that is why some complain of noise problems due to their equipment is wanting to use tip and sleeve (ground). There are not many of these versions out there so if it works for you, great. I ended up making my own.

With some speakers and headphones, this splitter works fine. With other speakers/headphones, there is a lot of static, similar to what other reviewers are seeing.

For such a simple device, it seems that there are some issues with it, which is rather surprising.

When using this to with my laptop and speakers there was ridiculous amounts of feedback through both speakers. It was unbearable quality and was promptly returned to the store.

While it does what it's advertised to (take a take stereo and split to left/right channels) I get a lot of speaker noise/feedback that I ordinarily wouldn't.

In my dual monitor setup, I have two sound bar speakers, each, which by default, have their own left and right channels (and therefore come with a stereo plug). I wanted both speakers in the sound bar affixed to the left monitor only to play left channel sound, and the right side only to play right channel sound.

Directly plugging one sound bar into my computer results in no feedback, even with the volume fully turned up. Using this splitter, I can't get past about 25% before it becomes annoying. I'm guessing it has something to do with mismatching female mono jacks to male stereo plugs.

If two stereo-mono adapters don't fix this problem, I'm returning this thing.

I have used many of these over the years. Gold is the left channel and nickel is the right channel. About five percent of these have serious channel crossover.

My biggest gripe: Has two mono connectors. No idea which one is left and which one is right. They are differentiated by being plated in silver and gold. Red and White would way more obvious.
