Comments about RadioShack® 10-Ft. RG-8M Coax Cable Assembly:

As noted in the other comments, RG-8M is really not a good solution if your main use is VHF or UHF. I recently installed a window-pass through and needed a quick-and-dirty patch cable to hook it into my radio. Noticeable loss on signals. When I replaced this 10' cable with a 20' cable of LMR-400, signal levels were much better. If you're in a bad area and/or have an antenna that lacks gain, you'll likely see the same degradation that I did. Don't bother unless this is for HF.

Comments about RadioShack® 10-Ft. RG-8M Coax Cable Assembly:

Use this stuff outside, and after six months your S-9 signal drops into the dirt.
I used this coax on my VHF station as a compromise. I was well aware that LMR-400 is a far better cable. But I had no idea that after six months the Radio shack cable deoritated so fast. The UV rays reaked havoc on the jacket, and the cable is full of very lossy water. At first I thought that I had an antenna issue. NO just cheap Radio Shack cable..
Go with a quality cable, Belden, Times Microwave, ect..

We use this cable as a backup feed from our FM transmitter to the tower. The few times we had to switch to backup and use this cable, it worked great. We run 100 watts through it without a problem.

This coax is not really all that great it will not hold alot of power and the end's are just crimped on and pull off real easy you are better off going with the grey mini 8 or lmr (times) 213 coax
