I just bought this antenna today and I am already happy with it ! I was able to pick up a police department about 15-20 miles away from me. When I heard them talking I was at my parents house where reception is not all that great and it picked it up no problem. I put it on my Radio Shack Pro96 scanner to boost reception. I am am administrator for a local group that lets people know what's going on with the local PD which 800 digital as well as MARCS which has state highway patrol, department of transportation and department of natural resources. This will help me out a lot.

I am using the Radio Shack Pro 96 scanner with the stock antenna to recieve the Fairfax County, Virginia 800 MHz trunked frequencies with so-so reception quality. Many channels were garbled or not perfectly clear. So I knew that I needed a better antenna. I did some research on Radio Reference and found two candidates: The Diamond RH-77CA Antenna and the Radio Shack 800 MHz Antenna. Upon further research in the RR Pro 96 Forum, I found out that the Diamond Antenna works better on the lower frequencies and suffers on the 800 Mhz frequencies. Several contributors recommended the Radio Shack 800 MHz Antenna. So I purchased the Radio Shack model. I just recieved it today, and boy, what a difference in reception quality! I've had a 99% improvement in reception clarity. I stll recieve just one garbled channel, but all the rest are perfectly clear. I'm thourghly satisfied with the great improvement in reception clarity.

I Purchased this 800MHz Antenna for My Pro-106 portable scanner . The reception is Great.. Its Crystal Clear. The Signal strength is 5 bars inside & Outside...! I couldn't believe that this 800MHz antenna would make such a Difference in the reception & clarity..! I pick up signals from up to 25 miles away inside my House..

The box is not kidding when it says that it will "nearly double the single". I put it on my Pro-106 and my single percent went up from 45 (with the antenna that comes with the scanner) 99 (with this one). The quality of sound I get on the scanner with this antenna is equal to that of radios on the local 800 MHz. If you plan to scanner 800MHz this the antenna you should have.

Bought this for 800MHz Motorola Smartnet Type II trunked system in Madison, WI and immediately I noticed clarity and better reception further from the towers.

This is a must-have for anybody monitoring trunking systems in their area.
