There is one HUGE problem with it. The metal flap that creates tension for the plug (on the opposite side of the photo above) was really tight and then at some point it got pulled funny and the plug stopped working, because it was touching the center pole and shorted out. I pretty much had to pull the thing off... It was very frustrating until I figured that out. So keep an eye on that thing... This suggests you can use either polarity for tip & shield connections. However, when a plug is inserted this is no longer true.
