Comments about RadioShack Magnet-mount mobile scanner antenna: i bought this based on the reviews i read. i live in southern California. i wanted to hear more. i set it uip in my home with no grounding and started to hear more on my scanner. i was hearing things my whip didnt pick up. all were local though. before all i could hear was dispatch now im hearing emt, south county fire. its better than the whip antenna that comes with the scanner but not as good as what other people have said. yes i put in an L bracket on the outside of my house at the roof and stuck it there. it wasnt any different than inside my home. if you want 50 miles then get a 50 mile antenna, if you want better local coverage than this will improve your signal. i get neighboring cities which are 10 miles

Comments about RadioShack Magnet-mount mobile scanner antenna: i have been using this product for about 2 years now and it is great because gets great reception, and it is not expensive. I am a volunteer firefighter and i use it for my fire/ police radio in my vehicle and I am able to communicate with other fire and police departments when i am out on a 911 call. for me to rely on this product when I am out on a 911 call must make this a very durable, and reliable mobile scanner antenna, and it great for VHF, UHF, FRS, GMRS, PMRS, POLICE, FIRE, and EMS radios, and scanners.

Comments about RadioShack Magnet-mount mobile scanner antenna: I had this antenna for over a decade. It has traveled thousands of miles on top of three vehicles with no problem, even when getting knocked off in parking garages. I used it mostly for scanning reception, then alternately for 2M/440 amateur radio transmission. I recently took it in my shack and mounted it on top of a metal file cabinet, then hooked up an antenna analyzer. This antenna resonates on 6M, 2M, and 440M with SWR <1.5:1 on all three bands. Now I have it hooked up to my HF rig for 6M digital work and it still works great! I might buy another one just to have around, because this antenna is truly sturdy and versatile. While this is rated for 25-1300Mhz, I also use it with an AOR8200 to pick up shortwave with decent results.

Comments about RadioShack Magnet-mount mobile scanner antenna: I've had this antenna (actually 2) for over 10 years. Monitoring all bands is great! It works great for mobile and in the attic! Don't tinker with it and it will work great. It must be on solid metal for good grounding. Cars now-a-days, you may need to convert it into a mounted antenna.

Comments about RadioShack Magnet-mount mobile scanner antenna: For [$] you cant go wrong....I use it on UHF/VHF amateur radio to local repeaters during storms when my topsides are grounded out...i've only used ht's @ 5 watts and was told many time "DFQ" ......don't know about putting more wattage thru it but for these applications it works great.....P.S....I am not a big fan of RS anymore but the antenna is what it is....oh yeah you'll def. have a better shopping experience ON LINE in store service is terrible as always.....

Comments about RadioShack Magnet-mount mobile scanner antenna: The signal reception was very good with this antenna but the quality is severely lacking. I put it on my car and drove about 30 miles to work. When I got out, the antenna was bent very badly and it was obvious that it wouldn't survive the trip home so I took it off. I've used it with my home scanners and it works great but the quality and construction is really disappointing.

Comments about RadioShack Magnet-mount mobile scanner antenna: I've used this one for years. It has been everywhere. On the Car, Refrigerator, Roof, Bedroom, and mounted on a 25 foot pole for base use. All these places it has worked great. It has fallen off the car a few times cause of branches and good cross winds but with all that said it works like a champ! I do have other mag mounts that are better but this one works in a pinch and is my workhorse of antenna's! It's a great starter antenna also. Great Job.
