I need some ideas on how to give it a better adherence to the glass. I like the look of it and it did improve my reception but after only about two months it fell off over a time when we had a lot of rain! I'd like to hear any ideas on what i could use to make it stick better.

I need to post a big HOWEVER to my earlier review (Oct 20, 2009). This antenna works great on my 2005 Ford Expedition. But I bought another one for my 1995 Ford Explorer, and it works very poorly -- the signals are very weak. Apparently, the tinted glass on the Expedition is non-metallic, while the tinted glass on the Explorer _is_ metallic. So, you either need to confirm what kind of glass is used with your car and avoid using this antenna on metallic-tinted glass, or you have to just take a risk, buy the antenna, and try it out. Again, this antenna works GREAT on one of my cars, but poorly on the other.

I put this antenna on the back window of my crown vic, just above the AM/FM antenna built into the window. The instructions say to keep it more than 1 1/2" from elements and the window edge, mine is within an inch of both. There is also a solar shielding on the window. The antenna works fine even with being installed where it is.

For the install I used blue loc-tite, and make sure you install the screw the right way. If you are installing it so there is a front/rear tilt, make sure that the screw faces the passenger side, that way as you drive the wind resistance will tighten it further. You can see mine is installed the wrong way, but with loc-tite doesn't loosen at all. Use the loc-tite where the antenna attached to the base, and the screw that holds the antenna and none of it will come lose.

I am using it on a Uniden BC355C and get phenomenal reception, in the 150MHz and 400MHz range, to include NOAA weather frequencies.

There is a whistle when you get to about 50mph, to fix that I covered the section from the coil up to the tip with shrink tubing, and put some shrink tube over the rubber tip to hold it on better. The whistle is totally gone.

I know some people will say, if you buy the darn thing it should work perfectly, and correctly, but there are a lot of products out there that you need to beef up a little. Spend the little extra on loc-tite and shrink tube, the extra few bucks is worth it.

All in all it is a fantastic antenna, if you take the time to install it correctly it will last you a long time, and pull in signals really well.

I had read reviews on this product so I taped the blocks first to check for interference, and used thread locker right at the start . I have no problems with loosening,and hear the calls from deputies on the water 35 miles away and in the hills 60+ miles away

Since glass mount antennas are glued to your cars glass (making them a non returnable item) and the antennas cable is a little harder to run inconspicuously through the car's interior, we highly recommend professional installation of glass mount antennas. You also need to consider window features that can block your signal such as tinting, defroster wires, and passivated glass (glass impregnated with tiny metal particles that render the glass incapable of coupling RF between the inside and outside couplers).

How can I tell if the glass on my vehicle is suitable for on-glass antennas?
First, look near a corner of a window for words that mean "sun", relate to sun, or refer to ultraviolet or other forms of radiation. If you find terms like "Soft-Ray", "EZE-Cool", "Solar-Coat", "Solar-Cool" or similar terms, your glass is probably passivated and won't work with on-glass antennas. If you want to be 100% certain, and you don't find helpful words on the glass, ask a 2-way or cellular shop technician to test your glass with a capacitance meter.

This is a good antenna. Placed it on an after-market tinted rear window. The tint doesn't seem to affect it's reception. You will need to put a little locktite on the screw to keep it in place. It does produce a little whistle at highway speeds but doesn't bother me. Overall a good product at a reasonable price.

what a piece of junk, the antenna would not stay up kept falling down the problem the screw is not long enough to support the antenna
