poor recepiton w/mounted too close. the coating chips very easily. don't listen to ratshack staff.. proably great on a big rig but not on a jeep.

co phased antennas need to be at least 1/2 wavelength apart to get maximum signal radiation. Optimum is 5/8 wave witch is guess how far (18 feet approx) if you plan to mount any closer than that the second one is for looks. this antenna has a low angle of radiation, the lowest swr i've ever seen on a moble when driven with high power. If you plan on a moble installation get the single and save your money you will not see a difference unless you are mounting them with a lot of metal (truck)above them. p.s. ground plane is critical for reception the mounting bracket must be grounded to battery or frame, light guage wire will do the trick. Put them in the attick 18 feet apart and they will perform like a 21 tall base antenna but don't forget a ground plane run some cheap wire from the bracket of one to the bracket of the other one.

Mounted vertically and then due to extreme wind noise and vibration, tried 45 degree angle. Still noisy. This pair is going back to Radio Shack. Period

Unless you mount these things 8 feet apart (i.e., big rig), they are no more effective than a single unit. If you want range, go to the 102" whip and pair it with another one that is 8 feet away. Otherwise you're wasting your money...it's simple physics...and don't let the RatShack geek tell you any different, because they don't know squat.

very duable antennas, mounted to the bumper of my f150. The reception is pretty good and could be a little better. Low swr, factory pretuned works well with the cobra 29nwwx i bought

I had the same thing that Gerald had happen to him, the fiberglass on the ends started to chip off after hitting the low branches.

It was good until the fiberglass covering it broke when they hit a low lying branch at about 10 mph. It should have held up.
