I have this antenna mounted on a tri-magnet on top of my car. It looks pretty good. It was a little bent on the top when they sold it to me but Im ok with that.

If you're looking for a CB antenna and have the room, the 102" whip gives you the best bang for your buck. It's a full 1/4 wave antenna, and transmits and receives better than any other antenna I have.

Comments about RadioShack® 102"" Stainless Steel Whip Element for CB Antenna:

This is the best basic design antenna period. Forget all of the hype with coils, base load, center load and top loaded performance. If you can install this antenna and height is not an issue. Do it!! I am running it with a Cobra 29LX, RFX-150 Amp and LMR-240 cable. The swing mod and recv upgrade really make this antenna the way to go for the $$ invested in the radio. I get many compliments on the road from the quality of the sound. Also works great as a base Stn antenna as well. Keep it simple, avoid the confusion with antenna articles if u are new to CB world and buy this antenna to keep your sanity when shopping for one!! Just dont go thru the carwash or drive thu with it! :-P

There is not another antenna made for CB or 10 meter ham radio better than this 102" I installed it and got a 1.1 SWR and it kicks your signal to the world. This will beat K40 or Wilson or any other CB Radio antenna. I am a licensed ham radio operator and I know this antenna. The power it is capable of handling is far more than the Wilson 1000 or 5000 or K40. It is the original antenna made for CB

Comments about RadioShack® 102"" Stainless Steel Whip Element for CB Antenna:

I have always been into radio, CB, Amateur and scanners. I have always loved the 102" whip but always settled on the coiled compromise. The K-40 & Wilson 5000 worked extremely well, so I thought. I knew the whip was the best antenna for CB, 10 & 6 meters aka the VHF-Lo Bands. After all, the Highway Patrols, State Patrols and State Police agencies, who are still using VHF Lo-Bands, were using whips. If they are using whips (California HP, Maryland SP & Mass SP), there must be something to them.

As I traveled down south (SC, NC, GA) I noticed more and more whips on the pickup trucks. I thought it was a southern look but when I looked in some of the trucks, I could see that the antennas were hooked up to some modest and nice radios. I asked one gentleman about it and he said they use their radios while hunting, farming and 4-wheeling and that the whip was the best antenna for transmitting and receiving. I was impressed.

The next trip down south, I installed a RS 102" whip on the back of my pickup. The only thing I can say is WOW! What the heck have I been missing all these years. The receiver on my rig vastly improved as compared to my Wilson 5000. It was like night and day. The transmit vastly improved as well but tends to be very directional depending on the antenna mounting location. During the trip, we were forced to detour off of the interstate due to a flash flood. I could receive other mobiles located 15+ miles away giving reports and directions. That whip was a life saver. I am sold on whips for good. Both my trucks have them now and I will make a mount for my SS Impala as well. CB is considered to be towards the end of the VHF Lo-Band. If the Public Safety community, such as the Highway Patrol, uses them, then we should too. RS keep this product in stock.

Comments about RadioShack® 102"" Stainless Steel Whip Element for CB Antenna:

This is a great antenna. Period. For reception and transmit you can not beat the 102. The downer is its LONG but that is why it works. Set up takes some time as you need to drill holes in the vehicle for either the roof or ball mount (that really should be used for such a large antenna) and the ground. I get 1.1 SWR readings on all 40 CB channels with this antenna. The trick to this is use the mounting spring between the antenna and the mount and make sure the mount has a GOOD chassis ground. I have mine mounted on the side of my pickup bed with the ball mount and a ground wire to the frame. I know for sure I get 12 miles range and possibly more (I do it leagal and don't use heat on my radio either.) Bottom line is yes I would recommend this product, only be sure it is what you want AND where you want to mount it as you must drill holes in your vehicle for the mount. There is also one other downside that really doesn't affect me, if you use this don't plan on going into any parking decks or low drive thru windows. The spring will allow the antenna to bend down (my bank just loves this as I drag on the drive thru roof, its about 6 inches lower than the antenna) so you can make some drive thrus.
