Comments about RadioShack Soldering Work Station with Dual-Powered Iron:

I've used soldering pencils in my RC hobbies and automotive stereo work for forty plus years. This unit was ok for tinning my work before soldering together but could not solder the wire to the circuit board. I had it set on 40 watts but it was too weak. I finished the job with my 15 watt Weller soldering pencil with no problems. This unit heated up mid shaft but failed to transfer the heat to the tip. JUNK...

Comments about RadioShack Soldering Work Station with Dual-Powered Iron:

This unit does the trick. Dual power option is nice.

No, there aren't replacement tips in store (boo hoo), BUT my local Gurnee, IL Radio Shack store was more than willing to place an RSU order for replacement tips matching the ones the unit came with.
            Ask for (RSU# 12439154)
I bought 2 at $4.99 a piece and $2.50 shipping to my house. Arrived in about 3 days. Yay!

I bought this 3 weeks ago. Finally got ready to use it and it would not heat. Went to the store to buy a different soldering system but was told that I could not plug it in to see if it works before I left. It is a 65 minute round trip to the store.

NO TIPS. That is ridiculous. The only tips you can get for this gun are chisel tips and those are only available online and NOT in stores. Not buying this unit again.
