I have a strong electronics hobby and now and then dig trough my circuit box to find some necessary or handy components. This product was a cheap alternative to "ripping them out".How ever, radio shack makes a killing off of it for what it is worth. Buy this ONLY if you are looking for something to, "get the job done" it can become a handy tool time to time. It is a good product overall.

This thing works well for its intended purpose. It's great for sucking the solder out of protoboard holes.
My only complaint is that it would be nice if the tip was a little more narrow and pointed, rather than being so wide and bulky.
Overall though, you get a good, working product for a fair price.

It works well for breadboard projects. But that's about it - it is terrible for desoldering small components on a PCB. It's limitations stem from the tip being too fat to get in close to small, tightly packed components.

This is a great product for situations where a more expensive desoldering iron would be to cumbersome to carry. Also some occational DIY'ers might not be able to justify the purchase of a dedicated desoldering iron. From them this simple product is perfect. It's compact and does its intended job well if you have a certain level of dexterity.

PROS: I used this on a 2 1/2" breadboard project. The Suction works great, but (1) you need to get the tip of the bulb very close to your work, and (2) you need to hold the bulb quite steady as you are releasing. Requires skill, but like anything else, once you master it it is do-able.

CONS: The tip tends to get clogged easily. Just keep a spare wire or paperclip handy to unclog. Hey, what do you want for five bucks!

Great tool box filler. Not used a bunch but when you need its nice to have the correct Tool for the job. Just use with care when dealing with molten metals.
