Soldering Iron Holder and Cleaner

Radio Shack's 15, 25, and 40 watt irons are all longer than the coil. Because its not mounted at the very back, the tip of these irons stabs the black plastic base and melts holes in it.

Who designed this thing?

It's tricky to prevent this due to the weight of the cord and when you get it just right the tip is touching the coil which dissipates heat.

I bought this and the Radio Shack brand dual-heat soldering iron (item number 6402055). Unfortunately, the iron is not held properly by this holder, and instead the plastic sleeve on the holder melts. The store wouldn't take it back either!

Utterly useless as it holds NONE of my 3 soldering irons properly -- the tips touch the holding coil, dissipating heat rapidly . Someone at Radio Shack needs to be fired for not testing their products out. Total junk, this one!

I use it while fixing and making circuits. I can't find an iron that it will hold well. It turned out that it was the reason my iron's tip became unusable. However I made it hold any iron with some wires.

I am all thumbs and this kit helps me keep my soldering iron (25W) safely contained and cleaned.

I bought this holder for 15W soldering iron I bought at the same time. The soldering iron does not seat well on this holderso the tip will touch the metal coil unless you take the time to move the soldering iron around in the holder. It wasn't a big issue for me but I thought I should mention it.

40w Iron 6402071 does not fit Iron extends too far out to be safe and does not stay in holder.

I use it with my 40 watt iron. if it broke, I would get another one before I went back to work on any project!

I use it to hold my weller 25 watt.It is great,my iron can't melt the plastic it is made with.

This holder works well with the 15w Soldering Iron available through Radio Shack, anything bigger than that and this stand will probably fall over/not be able to hold it. The sponge is removable for cleaning and is in a very convenient place to wipe the soldering tip after each component is soldered. Overall, effective station that works well for my use.
