Comments about RadioShack Replacement Tip for 40-Watt Pencil Soldering Iron:

These tips start out fine but after a few uses they pretty much disintegrate. Unfortunately I have bought a Radioshack soldering iron and its difficult to get tips from other vendors for these. Do yourself a favor and buy a different soldering iron that comes with tips that actually last.

Comments about RadioShack Replacement Tip for 40-Watt Pencil Soldering Iron:

I've used the same tip for 3 years of daily use doing general automotive repairs and manufacturing supplemental harnesses. I've neglected doing the tinning etc and the tip finally needs replacing. I had to use a 25 watt for a day and it drives me nuts after the fast heating of the 40 watt. If you're not soldering circuit boards consider the 40 watt. It's significantly faster at soldering repairs on 22 to 14 gauge wire.

Comments about RadioShack Replacement Tip for 40-Watt Pencil Soldering Iron:

Tips don't last long. I have gone through 3 or 4 of these, and yes I do tin the tips after use. Other brands I have used for other irons last pretty much forever, seems radioshacks don't. Fine for a casual do it yourself person that doesn't solder much.
