Best Uses Comments about RadioShack Replacement Tip for 64-2055: Just like all the other comments. I currently go through alot of these tips. After a few hours of use its just a nub. Pros Cons Best Uses
Comments about RadioShack Replacement Tip for 64-2055: In order to keep tips working in tip top shape and to make it last, you have to constantly tin the tip with solder - specially before you leave it on the stand. You also then have to wipe the tip with a moist sponge before using it. Do this and your tip will last. I run a solder production shop in my garage and these tips last me about 2 weeks if I use it everyday running at 4hrs/day. Pros

Best Uses Comments about RadioShack Replacement Tip for 64-2055: This is the same. It is like the 25-watt tip sold here. But it is good for my 25 watt soldering iron. Pros

Comments about RadioShack Replacement Tip for 64-2055: The tip wears easily after 10 minutes of soldering. Then I found out that it was originally part of a 2-pack of tips for an ECG 15-WATT soldering iron. RS sells their versions of ECG soldering irons (ones witha blue grip) at a lower price. RS did not know it and thought it was for a 30-watt iron. Try to use it with a 15-watt soldering iron. Pros

Best Uses Comments about RadioShack Replacement Tip for 64-2055: I make metal jewelry. I have my good iron for main use but sometimes i need a lower watt iron. I use the Radio Shack one for this. These tips work for one time only. They last for about 1 hour and they are too eaten up to keep the temp constant. Do not buy only one at a time! My RS iron has lasted a about a year but i have used probably 30 tips. This method works for me...but maybe not for you. Pros Cons

Comments about RadioShack Replacement Tip for 64-2055: This tip is only good for one use. Then you have to throw it away. After one use the tip starts to deform which makes it useless. Thats how Radio Shack makes their money. The iron is cheap and you have to keep buying the tips. The quality is so bad it probably only costs them $.02 to make the tip. Comments about RadioShack Replacement Tip for 64-2055: The plating (if there was any--I thought it came bare copper) didn't last long at all, and the tip is now dissolving. It is almost not usable any more because of the shape. Never buy a bare copper tip. It will not last more than a few hours soldering. Displaying reviews 1-7 |
