Comments about RadioShack® 45-Watt Desoldering Iron: I didn't have much success with the bulb solder sucker or desoldering braid. I was going to buy a new pen type solder sucker but it was more than I wanted to pay. This was cheaper so I figured I would give it a try. I'm very pleased how well it works. As a test I unsoldered a multi-pin transformer, resistor, transistor, relay and a capacitor without damaging them. Pros

Comments about RadioShack® 45-Watt Desoldering Iron: Desoldering has always been a messy error prone operation for me, particularly removing components from commercially soldered boards. I have ruined boards with my clumsy attempts. This tool worked great the first time, a perfect, clean desoldering. I was totally amazed. Pros Cons

Comments about RadioShack® 45-Watt Desoldering Iron: I use this in a industrial setting, 40 hrs a week. It'll last up to 6 months before the element burns out. On a hobby level, where you might use it 1 hr a week at best, Ive had the same iron for the last 4 years. Watch my video about it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uSfTTgn-ewY Pros

Comments about RadioShack® 45-Watt Desoldering Iron: I bought this desoldering iron years ago it is somewhere between 15 and 20 years old and it still works great. It gets hot fast and the rubber bulb is still nice and pliable. My only complaint is that the tips do not last long radio shack needs to make them out of a more durable material. Pros

Comments about RadioShack® 45-Watt Desoldering Iron: I used it to remove some capacitors from a TV power supply. Did a very clean job. There are other suction type de-soldering guns available. But, being a heater and suction in one device makes a job lot easier and you can work in a small spaces. It is cheap enough to keep it even for occasional usage. Pros Cons Best Uses Comments about RadioShack® 45-Watt Desoldering Iron: I'm sure glad that I didn't buy this from [@], as I would have wasted twice as much. As it was, [$]+tax wasn't all that bad.
