Comments about RadioShack Extra Tips for Soldering Guns: live on maui hawaii. Store at kaahumanu shopping center don't sell tips need to order online. For those people that need tips for this unit you can get it from [@]. Its so funny how they sell the gun here but not the tips. That's what wears out the most. Pros

Comments about RadioShack Extra Tips for Soldering Guns: It's just a piece of copper wire! I have several Weller 7200/8200 guns - these work fine, and in a pinch I have even use a piece of #10 bare copper wire with no problems. For those with Radio Shack guns - maybe wrong tip (theirs aren't just copper wire?), or not properly installed (nuts loose), or just a crummy Radio Shack gun? Pros

Comments about RadioShack Extra Tips for Soldering Guns: The negative reviews these tips recieve must be published by those not familiar with soldering guns and such. I have been using these tips for a while without fail. Pros

Comments about RadioShack Extra Tips for Soldering Guns: I have Weller's 8100 and a D440 and have used these tips for the past 20 years with no problems. Necessary to keep the tips well tinned and the nuts tight but that's just common-sense maintenance and the tips work great...at least for me. Comments about RadioShack Extra Tips for Soldering Guns: I've been using these as replacement tips in a Weller 8200 gun for ATLEAST 20 years. There is absolutely NOTHING wrong with these items. If you keep the mounting nuts tight, they heat in a few seconds and will not damage the gun. Comments about RadioShack Extra Tips for Soldering Guns: A great replacement tip for the Weller 8100, 8200 or D440(I have all three)... Apparently overloads some R/S model guns(based on other users comments)... Comments about RadioShack Extra Tips for Soldering Guns: Bad buy. Makes buying the archer soldering gun pointless because this "replacement" tip burns the gun out. Mine burned right away. Pros
Cons Best Uses Comments about RadioShack Extra Tips for Soldering Guns: The best tip in the world. I highly recomend this to everyone. Comments about RadioShack Extra Tips for Soldering Guns: I agree with the other reviewer...using this tip for 30 seconds caused smoke to come from the primary winding in my Radio Shack Soldering Gun #64-2187; a very poor match. Buying a Weller instead. Comments about RadioShack Extra Tips for Soldering Guns: This is the worst soldering tip I have ever used. Its construction gives it a too low electrical resistance, therefore, most of the power will dissipate in your soldering gun. I almost fried mine with this tip. It takes over 1 minute of full power to heat it up to the point where it can melt the solder. By that time, your soldering gun will be really hot. Use at your own risc. Displaying reviews 1-10 |
