Cons Best Uses Comments about RadioShack Tip Tinner/Cleaner Compound (0.5 Oz.): For over 56 years I have experienced problems with tinning of my soldering iron tips, but this stuff really works. I build cicuit boards with as many as 100 connections per square inch. It would still be great product at twice the price. Pros
Cons Best Uses Comments about RadioShack Tip Tinner/Cleaner Compound (0.5 Oz.): I had to repair my EL wire and anyone familiar with EL wire knows how tiny the wires are. Anyway, I have always struggled with tinning the tip of my soldering wand and was not looking forward to this project. Saw the 'Tip Tinner and Cleaner Compound' on the Radio Shack website and thought what the heck I'll give it a try. I was so impressed with how easy it tinned the tip! My repair job went from dreading, to what else needs to be soldered in the house. It's super easy to use; just dip the hot tip of your soldering wand into it. The package says to remove the sponge from the soldering station and mount the tip tinner in its place. I mounted mine between the sponge and the support spring on my station as I found I needed to occasionally wipe off the excess solder. Once it's mounted I recommend using a flat head screw driver to pop the lid off instead of yanking on it. A must have for all soldering projects. Hope RS never discontinues this product. Pros

Comments about RadioShack Tip Tinner/Cleaner Compound (0.5 Oz.): I was a bit put off by the price at first but I've barely even made headway into the first container after a few months. I've found that if you just jab your iron into it like the directions seem to imply is the way that it starts to disappear pretty quickly...not to mention I tended to get a lot more material on the tip than I wanted. I seem to get much better results by using this kind of like a pumice stone and lightly scraping it against the tip as if I'm trying to sharpen it...transfers just enough material to good conduction and makes no bubbly noxious mess whatsoever compared to the Vlad the Impaler technique. Pros
Cons Best Uses Comments about RadioShack Tip Tinner/Cleaner Compound (0.5 Oz.): I've been a professional Electronic technician for more than 20 years and I was hesitant at first but I can assure you this Tip Tinner is as good (if not better) as any of the well-known-brand ones I've been using for years (Kester, Hakko and Multicore) Pros Cons Best Uses
Comments about RadioShack Tip Tinner/Cleaner Compound (0.5 Oz.): Made tinning the tip easy and enjoyable. Pros
Cons Best Uses Comments about RadioShack Tip Tinner/Cleaner Compound (0.5 Oz.): Works great. Leaves your tip clean and with just the right amount of solder. Didn't really think about it when I bought it (wouldn't have mattered anyhow), but 0.5 oz is pretty small. The container barely measures 1.25" in diameter, and is kind of hard to open. I don't know why I assumed it would be a paste, but it's not. It's kind of a compressed powder. Little granules of it spill out every time you open it. So be warned! I gave myself a surprise dusting the first time I wrestled the lid off. Not fun. Pros

Comments about RadioShack Tip Tinner/Cleaner Compound (0.5 Oz.): This is an essential product if you anything more than casual soldering. This will prolong the life of your tips - use it to tin the tip as soon as it heats up, and it will protect it from oxidation. Pros Cons Best Uses
Comments about RadioShack Tip Tinner/Cleaner Compound (0.5 Oz.): Great product that does exactly what it is designed to do and is sold at a reasonable price. I did have a hard time finding this product in local RS-stores a few years back. It seems that this product was held up in distribution channels so that it could be repackaged with a warning from the state of California. Pros Cons Best Uses Comments about RadioShack Tip Tinner/Cleaner Compound (0.5 Oz.): Works as well as any brand of cleaner I've used. Highly recommended. Pros
