Comments about RadioShack Standard Rosin-Core Solder (0.5 Oz.):

I use this solder for all my electronic projects and repairs. I repair amature radios and build several devices from plans. I also repair several electronic devices within my level. This solder is perfect size for low heat IC chips, transistors. ect... I use the heavier stuff for larger wiring. The price and availability is not bad compared to electronic suppliers online.

Comments about RadioShack Standard Rosin-Core Solder (0.5 Oz.):

Most of us know that over the past 10 years, the prices at RS have gone up and the quality has come down; however, they really got this solder right and that is still true today. I've been soldering as a hobbyist and a professional for almost 20 years, and this solder has become my standard, all-purpose tool. It is excellent for everything from low temp chip soldering to automotive use. I've even used it for light duty, temporary brazing. I've probably used close to one hundred different types of electronics solder, and this one is by far the standout. Low melting point, unmatched wetting action, great conductivity, and a very strong hold. Highly recommended.

Comments about RadioShack Standard Rosin-Core Solder (0.5 Oz.):

Just what is needed for those small electronics job's and in a handy packaging. Sometimes you buy a lower gauge wire and it comes loose. Too easy to loose and storage is a pain. This item came in nice packaging that can be hung up and not lost. Recommended....

Comments about RadioShack Standard Rosin-Core Solder (0.5 Oz.):

This product works well for circuit boards and applications in tiny areas. Its small size rather than buying a larger spool makes it easier to handle. The alternative 64-025 lead free solder requires higer temperatures and reportedly does not work well with the 15 watt Radio Shack iron. (See reviews of that iron. I recommend that iron, also.) The quetion here is the health danger and legal restrictions on lead verses ease of use and possible shorting over time of non-lead solders on tiny circuits where wires are very close. Also, the greater heat required by non-lead products might harm heat sensitive parts during assembly. However, for manufacturing applications, non-lead solders are preferred due to restrictions on lead [See ROHS compliance] in some countries. Where parts may move during assembly, consider a 63/37 solder but note that it may take more heat.
