Comments about RadioShack High-Tech Rosin Core Silver-Bearing Solder (1.5 Oz.):

We use a lot of this but we can hardly ever get it in the store they stock none or very little. We are tax exempt on this product and when we order online we can not get the tax taken off. Would like to be able to buy online with tax exempt status.

Comments about RadioShack High-Tech Rosin Core Silver-Bearing Solder (1.5 Oz.):

I formerly was terrible at soldering. After buying a proper iron and this solder and studying videos on the Internet, I now am quite competent. I get smooth, super shiny joints with this stuff. Not trying to brag, but my joints look better than the joints shown in that "Make" book.

Comments about RadioShack High-Tech Rosin Core Silver-Bearing Solder (1.5 Oz.):

The 2% silver prevents the solder from dissolving silver plating on SMD components. It doesn't really significantly add to strength nor conductivity, just a tiny bit. That's always been kind of a wives-tale sorta thing.

Small enough for surface mount, like SOIC chips, but also works well for through-hole. It flows very easily and is my favorite solder to use.

The addition of silver to this formulation of solder makes it more conductive. This makes it especially useful in electronic aplications.

I am a novice when it comes to soldering but the first time I used this product, I was impressed with how clean my work was! It's perfect with Cold Heat if you are tired of getting burnt by conventional soldering irons.

Comments about RadioShack High-Tech Rosin Core Silver-Bearing Solder (1.5 Oz.):

I use this for some DIY audio projects, mostly through hole and a very little surface mount work. This is about the thickest solder I'd want to attempt surface mounts with. It's quasi-eutectic, so cold joints are possible, but not likely. The flux could be better, but it's perfectly workable. Also I noticed most people don't know that the silver content is to prevent leeching from silvered IC contacts, it has no real impact on conductivity.
