Comments about RadioShack Dipole FM Antenna:

I don't know much at all about radio technology. I just needed a replacement for an old receiver. This one was a good price so I tried it out. I can now hear all of the radio stations that I wanted to hear. Once in awhile there is a little bit of feedback/ static, but it's bearable for my use. Easy to use. I just hooked it up to the receiver and tacked the other end to the wall and it worked.

Comments about RadioShack Dipole FM Antenna:

I moved to a different location. From House to condo. With my Yamaha receiver I received NO reception. In my house I had a high end antenna in attic which performed perfectly but cost over $80. Since being in a condo restictions are many I put this diapole antenna behind the wall unit that houses receiver. The results not only exceeded my expectations my favorite channel comes in perfectly even better than at house.

Comments about RadioShack Dipole FM Antenna:

I found an old 70's radio/8-Trak player in the basement of the house that I bought. The 8-Tracks sounds really bad and the radio picked up one station (the tower was in the town that I live in, no big feat there). I was looking to get a new radio but figured I'd try a new antenna on the old beast before I put it to pasture in the garage. I bought this today, hooked it up, thumb tacked it to the rafters in the basement and now I'm picking up more stations than I even thought were available around here. I listen to radio all the time and I have never even heard some of these stations on any of my other radios. I spent [$] and ended up with the best radio in my house as opposed to $80 for a new one.

This antenna is being used with an Optimus STA-20 personal stereo receiver and a pair of Minimus 7 speakers. I hooked it up and was amazed at the reception. Without tuning the antenna at all, I was pulling in a FM signal from 100 miles away in stereo! Local stations are clear and strong. Have tried amplified antennas over the years, but it seems you can never beat the standard FM dipole from RS!

Comments about RadioShack Dipole FM Antenna:

If you can't have an outdoor FM antenna, and you don't mind having something like this in your listening room, here is your cheap, simple and effective FM antenna. It works with any FM radio or tuner that has connections for an external antenna, although those that accept only a 75 ohm "barrel" connection will require an adapter.

RadioShack's 42-2385 FM dipole antenna is a very simple, but also quite effective solution for both local and distant (20-50 miles, depending upon the station and conditions) FM radio reception. It's also a somewhat directional antenna, so you can position it to "null out" some types of interference, as well as stations that are "stepping on" the frequency you want to hear.

The only drawback is this antenna's size and appearance. It won't win any beauty contests and it can take up a fair amount of space in your room. If this is a problem for you, I've had good luck tacking these antennas to the ceiling, installing them between curtains and windows, putting them partially behind stereo equipment or placing the antenna under the portion of a rug that is not walked on.

Comments about RadioShack Dipole FM Antenna:

Improved reception over standard dipole. I have mine mounted in the upper corner of the room with the two arms of the antenna at 90 degrees. Great performance at low cost. I tried an amplified antenna from the Shack which was useless.

There was a prior reviewer that rated this 1 star, but in his review he mentioned using F-connector 15-1296 which is not correct for FM radio reception. You need to use a matched connector like 15-1253 for FM.
