I bought one of these for a feedline to a JPole antenna I bought and installed it on RG58 with the appropriate reducer. It worked flawlessly (my BNC connector didn't though - I now have the twist on bnc connector) until I pulled the connector out of the antenna socket and the center pin broke off. I think it was user error though. I had pushed it in hard and also probably didn't have enough solder in the center pin. I bought another one - the same "premium" connector and reinstalled it. I'll update the review if it breaks again but I think it will work well.

silver plating is the soldering surfaces of the plug. The Teflon is the white insulating material between the barrel and the center pin.this insulates the center pin very effectivly.
These must be soldered with care so as not to damage the insulating material between the center wire of the coax and the outer shield of the coax.

This Premium connector is much better than the low end 2-pack version. As packaged, it only fits the large o.405 inch RG8 cable. You must purchase a separate adapter to use this product on the thinner RG8X, RG58, RG59, etc. Beware. The Product Specification description is incomplete and mis-leading.

Easy connection, rugged. Have used a number of these in and around my shack. These work great, I generally keep 4 or 5 on hand at all times for various projects.

These are quite good connectors. There is silver plating where you need it and a good teflon insulator. They have served me well for years and I've never had one fail.

I am "Bulldog" Unit 777 over here in central Maine. Using 400 series coaxial cable in the shack. Changed all of my jumpers and antenna PL-259's to these ones and my SWR is lower. Worth the investment. Take care, 73's.

Works great for a variety of both mobile and fixed location installations. The connector is very rugged. While it can be tricky and time consuming to install this connector, the end result is worth it.

As to the previous poster who took exception to a typo on the packaging, the desciption here on the website apears to be correct. Also common sence, which obviously is not so comman as evidenced by the remark, dictates that "silver plated teflon insulation" would logically be a typo. I know of no process to plate any metal onto teflon, nor can I figure out why one would want to do so. Silver is used in a variety of electrical aplications because of its extremely high conductivity, and is one of the few materials that is more conductive than copper at ordinary temperatures. Teflon is used as an isulator in a lot of industrial aplications because it is very rugged and not subject to dielectric breakdown when exposed to high heat or high voltage. I.E. teflon is a very good insulator. With that knowledge one would logically assume that no one would apply a silver plating to teflon, even if it were indrustrialy feasable to do so.

As to the criticism that the outside body of the connector is nickle plated, this is common for most cable connections that are not plated with a more expensive metal such as gold, rhodium, platinum or paladium. While I previously stated that both silver and copper are very conductive, the two metals are also subject to various forms of corrosion if left uncoated and exposed to the elements. For this reason, manufactures will plate a more corrosion resistant metal over the exposed copper or silver surface.

The barrel/pin is silver plated and the sleeve is nickel.
