I went to 3 different Radio Shack stores, and trolled through the virtually empty "RF Adapter bins" and could not find this item. Against my better judgement, I ordered it from radio shack.com.
After a weeks wait and postage that exceeded the price of the item, I finally had it.
20 years ago, you could walk into a Radio Shack store, and walk out with everything you needed to build whatever project you desired !!! Now you're lucky to find anything thats not Cell Phone related !!!

Good product, but incorrectly named. This is not a BNC to PL-259 Adapter. It's a BNC to SO-259 Adapter.

("PL" means "plug," "SO" means "socket." This adapter has a "UHF" socket, not a "UHF" plug. Adapters are named according to what they are, not what they mate with.)

Make sure you're ordering what you actually need--you can plug a PL-259 into this adapter.

Also, the item name should be corrected, so it comes up properly in web searches of radioshack.com.

Great for using a handheld CB radio in a vehicle. Saves you from having to open up or modify the dash of a vehicle and from having to run power leads to the battery or fuse box like you would with a permanently installed mobile CB radio.

Best! Do it, fast and easy. I have several rooftop antennas I wanted to use and connect my HHeld scanners and other radios. The HH with BNC Antenna connectors can be a problems as they have to lean over due to strength (RG8) of cable. I used this with the angle adapters and I can use the HH to connect, and stand upright. Downsides? A little over priced, like by a dollar. I have yet to have one fail but they are a mechanical connection so IF you get a bad one, toss it and use another. I keep several mixed type connectors on hand. So, for a dollar less, I would buy 3 or 4 more.
