great product. be careful when soldering, it should be fine if you use a temporary clip-on heat-sink.

I bought some of these transistors some yrs. ago.I suspect the manufacturer was motorola.They all checked-out good.I did not check the gain yet,but you get what they give you!All of mine were 2N3904,but I have a pack of 3906s'and half of them are 2N4403,
so needles to say it is a roll of the dice.I figure if you can get 5 or 6 devices out of a pack,then by the time you mail-order them from anther company,you will have way more than this price in shipping.: 0 For the price,buy two packs,that way you should get enough devices for your needs. : )

over half the pack were faulty. On the bad ones, ALL the Emitter's were shorted with the Collectors. verrry frustrating to find this out...bought them a long time ago to stock up on...just found out they are bad.

Wish there were better circuitry/component stores (not on internet)

I found these are very sensitive to heat. Be careful when you solder it onto your board as too much heat will fry it. If you do it right, it works flawlessly in my small applications (nightlights). They are however more expensive than going through someone like [...].

Only 30% of what is contained in this package is the correct component. The others are a similar but incompatible version that have a -5V trigger voltage. Obviously this substitution is done on purpose in the hopes that people won't return a [$]item.Radioshack, please don't sell us junk.
