Cons Best Uses Comments about RadioShack +5V Fixed-Voltage Regulator 7805: One of these has been working fine with the amateur radio fitted to my Explorer, driving the OEM amplifier. Now I will use one to regulate supply to replacement digital meters on a home power supply. I revised the voltage up to 9V per the nice description by N1HFX

Best Uses Comments about RadioShack +5V Fixed-Voltage Regulator 7805: Got 2 of these to use in home made power supplies. One was running at around 4.88 vdc at idle. The other was around 4.98 vdc at idle. Replaced the first one and had a reg. that was running at 5.05 vdc. If your looking for very god regulation, look somewhere else for your parts. For what I use them for, its ok. But I wouldn`t trust them for anything other than hobby use!(and be careful even at that)

Comments about RadioShack +5V Fixed-Voltage Regulator 7805: I bought this regulator to supply a volage for a fairly sensitive microcontroller and upon installation in the circuit, the first one sat at 6v and stayed there even with modest loading.

Comments about RadioShack +5V Fixed-Voltage Regulator 7805: Works great. I have the Gigaware™ Universal Portable Speaker System for MP3 Players, and it has a power input that requires 5V and 1A. That power supply isn't really sold for cheap. This was perfect for it. Now I have a usb power cable and I don't have to use up all my AAA batteries.

Comments about RadioShack +5V Fixed-Voltage Regulator 7805: I was looking to build a 5v modded batt box for my e-cig. This regulator does the job nicely. Provides a consistent voltage from dual 3.7v batts wired in series.

Comments about RadioShack +5V Fixed-Voltage Regulator 7805: i used it to charge my cellphone on the go. i wired everything up correctly, plugged in a 9v battery, plugged in the charger, and it charges my env3. it also runs anything you can think of that requires 5v to operate. it does create a good amount of heat but that's always a given when working with and type of regulator/transistor.

Comments about RadioShack +5V Fixed-Voltage Regulator 7805: I used the regulator to make an iPhone charger. It worked perfectly, gets a bit warm drawing 500mA. I was going to use the LM317 because I thought RadioShack wouldn't have a 5v regulator, but then I found this. Works great, put out 5.04 volts. Make sure to anchor it to something with dissipating abilities though. I was making a minty boost and screwing it directly into the mint tin worked great.
