Comments about RadioShack TL082/TL082CP Wide Dual JFET Input Op Amp (8-Pin DIP): It's great you can buy these at RS. They are a great op-amp for beginning with audio circuits and can be used for much more. TI recently updated the data for these to indicate that the noise spec is now the same as the TL072. 18nV per square root Hz input noise would mean a 115dB S/N ratio relative to 1V in for audio. This along with just a few other components and the 271-1732 stereo control can make a decent preamp.

Cons Best Uses Comments about RadioShack TL082/TL082CP Wide Dual JFET Input Op Amp (8-Pin DIP): Nice replacement for older hybrid guitar amps that use op-amps in the pre-amp stages. Excellent upgrade for 4558. Less THD and more gain. Much quieter and more linear. Great for analog processing circuits, tonestacks, effects pedals/overdrives ect... Useful in older solidstate equipment like Randall RG-80 or Carvin X-Amps.

Best Uses Comments about RadioShack TL082/TL082CP Wide Dual JFET Input Op Amp (8-Pin DIP): This is not the same as the tlc272cp in the electronics learning kit so if you use the kit for prototyping or are trying to replace a burnt one in the kit this is not for you. This is very "noisy" and will not work for very sensitive projects,eg( voltage monitor for .5v) as it produces a .69v noise on the input side. So be very careful if you are trying to replace the 272 version with this one.

Best Uses Comments about RadioShack TL082/TL082CP Wide Dual JFET Input Op Amp (8-Pin DIP): The tech info is incomplete on the web and the package. I may not be the brightest bulb on the family Chrstmas tree but the drawing on the rear of the package makes no sence to me at all. How can you have the +V or VCC tied to the output of the amp and have outputs A & B also tied to the +V and expect the thing to work? The package says that they are two independent OpAmps, are they?

Comments about RadioShack TL082/TL082CP Wide Dual JFET Input Op Amp (8-Pin DIP): No Highs, No Lows, No nothing from my Bose 901 series IV eq. A quick cross reference and a short drive later the eq is working again.

Comments about RadioShack TL082/TL082CP Wide Dual JFET Input Op Amp (8-Pin DIP): One of the things I use this for is guitar effects pedals, for example a boost or overdrive pedal. To my ears it sounded slightly better than the LM741, maybe less noisy. It's a good choice to pick up quickly when you don't want to bother ordering online or through surplus stores.

Comments about RadioShack TL082/TL082CP Wide Dual JFET Input Op Amp (8-Pin DIP): It's not a BB chip but for the price you can't beat it... Use it for a RIAA phono stage pre-amp..
