Comments about RadioShack PNP Amplifying Transistors (15-Pack):

This is a nice pack of transistors',for the money.I would make a few suggestions' to any one who is new to electronics'.Get yourself an jeweler's eyeglass,so that you can see the little numbers' on the transistor. If you are serious about your hobby, buy a digital volt/ohm meter, with Hfe=gain,so that you can tell the polarity of the transistor and it's gain.If you use a lot of transistors',like I do,buy them elsewhere,in quantity. You will get a much better price, even with shipping.Shack is good,in a pinch! :)

Comments about RadioShack PNP Amplifying Transistors (15-Pack):

There are three different types of transistors, but all of them seem to work for my purposes. Other than that, there isn't much else to say. They're transistors.

They really need to find out what they're trying to sell. I got transistors marked with unidentifiable information, and some with no markings at all. I could throw a few assorted things in a bag and sell to unsuspecting people too, but I have morals.

            Three Different Transistors

Comments about RadioShack PNP Amplifying Transistors (15-Pack):

The package tells the truth. They are "similar" to 3906's but there are five 3906, 5 ea. 2907 and 5 ea. 4403. Yes, these are similar to the 3906. But, in detail, they may or may not work according to your particular project. They really are not interchangeable in many uses. So watch it. Download your own data sheets before using them and do not trust the pin-out diagram on the pack. Double check it! And then check it again before you use these transistors. In my project, I actually needed the 2907's. 3906's absolutely will not work for me on this project. If I had not read other reviews here, I would not have known there were possibly 2907's in the pack. I was all prepared to send off for them. But, these have saved me at least 35 bucks for over night delivery since The Shack had them. I don't know why RS does not list the contents on the PNP pack but they do for the NPN pack. I think they really should correct that.

Comments about RadioShack PNP Amplifying Transistors (15-Pack):

I bought over 100 of these transistors because I needed a quick turn and could not wait for other supplier. I believed the old package label that it was a pack of 15 2n3906.It was not until my device was through assembly and in final QA that we discovered the mixed bag issue.65 boards rejected and rework process started. This held up the project and cost $$$$$When I went back to the shack and got another bagthe associate just shrugged "Team Knowledge" that is what corp gave us. The drawer was now labeled "PNP type" and the bag was clearly labeled "on the BACK" with the types of transistors in the bag.[...].At Least the Bag is now labeled. :(

Comments about RadioShack PNP Amplifying Transistors (15-Pack):

What has people confused is not all the transistors in the package are 2n3906's. The transistors are all acceptable 2n3906 PNP type replacements, and actually exceed 3906 specss. There is no detriment or change needed to the circuit when used in place of a 2n3906.

2n3906 transistors are current rated at 200ma.
The included 2n4403 and 2n2907 transistors mixed in the package are rated 600ma.

The current gain is equal among the three types
                          in the package

You are getting a better general purpose switching transistor then the 2n3906 when using the additional types in the package

I beleive these are good for use in the old Electronic Project Kits Radioshack used to sell. I got these for replacement transistors in the event the PNP Transistors in me kits fail. At least they are all PNP Transistors in this pouch. Just the part numbers differ

after using the transistors i kept wondering why some worked perfect others rather shady and some just blew out. the reason is there are 3 different transistors in the pack but it is nowhere described on the package. thought my circuit board was faulty etc until i finally took a closer look at the transistors and figured out they were different.

Comments about RadioShack PNP Amplifying Transistors (15-Pack):

When trying to use these transistors as a driver for a 6v motor pole switching circuit, I found the npns to fail immediately, some not working for even a moment, others working briefly, while one simply opened and never closed again. The pnp's usually worked for a time, however they failed easily, some not even surviving install on a board. For use as an amplifier they may work well, but for my application they were worthless, even though the tolerances seemed to indicate they would perform well.

I recommend 8050, 8550, or 1300 3279 for someone looking to drive motors.

Comments about RadioShack PNP Amplifying Transistors (15-Pack):

I bought this for a low power flasher circuit I was working on. I thought it was a pack of 15 2N3906 transistors as was labeled on the package, and had already used one in my project before I read the other reviews here and found out that the package contains an assortment of 5 each of 2N3906, 2N2907, and 2N4403. After I found this out, I went and checked the transistor I used in my project and it turns out I used a 2N4403 instead of 2N3906. For me it didn't really matter since my circuit worked just as well. But RadioShack really should correctly label the package with the actual contents.
