I've collected many wall-mounted DC adapters from discarded equipment and had been using one of those during the development phase. All but two of them produced stray signals in the 120V lamp display matrix when the source audio signal was paused, which made me concerned that I would run into this problem with a purchased panel-mount unit. I decided to first try building my own unit, so I bought a 12.6V 300mA transformer; a 1.4A, 100V full-wave bridge rectifier; a 1N4004 diode; and an LM317T regulator. When I assembled these components with resistors and capacitors that I already had, I was able to produce a 5VDC output that generated no stray signal output in the. Everything performed to my highest expectations. I am extremely satisfied.
