Bought one and connected to 330 Ohm resister. Placed assembly in black pen barrel.
Connected the Anode to fused CONSTANT on.
Cathode to fused on WHEN KEY IS ON.
When vehicle is off the light will blink and looks just like a car alarm security light.
When key is "ON" the light will go OFF.
Works great ! (So far)
The specs on box show this will run at voltages up to 5 volts.
A 330 ohm resister seems to work great.

The website specs are slightly off!! Supply voltage is 2.5-5volts and 80mA

I use these to create a flashing warning light by connected it to a simple Radio Shack battery holder.

When you need blinking indication (and surprisingly I have already found 4 projects that needed exactly this), this is a perfect solution -- no futzing with an additional circuit to get it to blink. What would I like that would make it Manna from Heaven? If you could trigger the blinking on and off. But, hey, I am not complaining! This is a great product. I'd love to see this blinking feature added to a few more LED configurations, like the brighter units and even other colors.

It works easily, however it needs 5V. I am using 4.5V (3 AAA) and it works nicely, and it was only a slight bit dimmer with a 3V battery.

This is a great LED because of its built in blinker ....unfortunately its current requirements are considerably higher than non-blinking, hi-brightness LEDs.
