Comments about RadioShack 5mm Red/Green LED: What makes this LED unique is the fact that there are two LEDs in one package with only two leads. The color of the LED will depend upon the polarity of the connection. It will be either red or green but cannot be both(yellow), like a three lead dual LED could be. This would be more apparent if Radio Shack provided a schematic for this product. I am using 20 of these in a binary clock which uses the color change as a visual indicator of the movement of time.

Comments about RadioShack 5mm Red/Green LED: I am still learning about resistors capacitors and stuff like that so I decided to add some modifications to my R/C car. During this time, though I didnt know that you need a resistor in order to make it work wright. I basically blew them all up. After lots of research I used some resistors with my last two working ones and it works well.

Comments about RadioShack 5mm Red/Green LED: I've used these in the past to indicate power direction/polarity...work great
Pros
Cons Best Uses Comments about RadioShack 5mm Red/Green LED: Used this as a voltage indicator. With a 100 ohnm resistor, at 4.9 volts the led is red at 5.0 volts. Could be used with any voltage point, just calculate the proper resistor value Displaying reviews 1-9 |
