Bad trip to Radio Shack. This switch lost one of the poles after two uses. Also had picked up 2 fuse holders. Both of those came apart during install. My last trip to Radio Shack, My fault, I knew better but they were more convenient than my usual suppkier.

I have used this switch off and on for years as a general purpose on/off small appliance replacement switch. Many times the amp requirements exceed the 10 amps, so I tie both sides together turning it into a spdt unit. By using only part of the dt and using it as a spst device, the other half will possibly leave me a replacement side when, if ever it fails. So far, no failures after all of these years. I usually solder the terminals to wires. Exercise caution when modifing stuff.

I am 82, and a learner in how to build a Model train project with HO trains. I have 26 switches on my panel to operate the track switches on the layout. I needed all the labels on those switches to be the same. I found them at Radio Shack.
But my store only has two in inventory, a bummer.
I like these switches. The connectors cannot fall off with the screws. The labels are big and easy to read. I like them.

Like most DT switches with a center off, the internal wiring is what has been described as "opposite" -- the bat handle goes into the switch via a pivot point so when you put the hande to one end, the interal portion goes to the other end and completes those circuits. Looking at the back of the switch, the terminals are

In the center off position, all terminal are open. When the handle is in the "up" position (toward the 1-2 end) 3 connects to 5 and 4 to 6. When the handle is in the other end position, 3 connects to 1 and 4 to 2. It's like every bat handle or toggle type DPDT switch I've ever seen.

I used this to switch a car stereo I wired to 110v circuit with the help of the Shack to get the right transformer. The switch worked great, but was unsure of why there are two On positions, i just jumpered both On terminals together and it worked fine so both on positions worked for me.

This switch is made in China and was used to replace a rotary switch on a two speed motor in an air purifier. I used the up and down settings for the slow and fast speeds, respectively, and the center position was "off". I found that the mounting hole was not 7/16" but rather 15/32" so make sure you have the right drill on hand before you start. [...]

Worked great with my model train layout. Was a bit dissapointed in the price but it worked great.
