Comments about RadioShack Lighted 125VAC SPST Push On/Push Off Switch:

I purchased 9 units for prototyping a new switched lamp base. 3 out of the first seven switches have failed! Soldering or attaching a wire to the lamp connection on the switch induces failure. This is unacceptable.

Comments about RadioShack Lighted 125VAC SPST Push On/Push Off Switch:

I used this switch in making a foot control for my band's stage lights. It worked great during performance seeing at a quick glance as I was playing the light I wanted to turn off without guessing. I made the unit back in the late 80's and only had to replace one switch. Had a total of 6 switches per light attached to one master switch that turned all power off and on as needed. All lighted switches worked great.

Comments about RadioShack Lighted 125VAC SPST Push On/Push Off Switch:

This switch works fine - many rate it down because the "LED" doesn't work. It does not have an LED. It has a neon light for 125V A/C only. The light will not work on 12 V DC. Two big contacts for the switched power, one small goes to neutral or ground. Works fine.

Comments about RadioShack Lighted 125VAC SPST Push On/Push Off Switch:

I used this for 12VDC, not the 120VAC, but that has not been a problem ever before. The wiring is the same as any other lighted switch; + line to side without light ground, + load to other, ground the little light lead, ground load elsewhere. The switch works fine, but the light doesn't work. I agree in that it isn't an LED, so maybe that is the problem (AC light) otherwise it works fine, just not for my use.

Comments about RadioShack Lighted 125VAC SPST Push On/Push Off Switch:

Bought this for a different project and threw away the package, so I'm not sure about the wiring diagram. I have hot going in and out the two big terminals and common on the little one. The switch has been working fine for about a month, so I assume I've got it right. (I'm using it as a mains switch on a subwoofer.)
Three notes: 1, the light is always on, no matter if it's on or off. Two, I don't think the bulb is an led. It feels like glass, and it has a little tip like a Christmas light, which I've never seen on an led. And three, the mounting hole needs to be 15/32, 7/16 is just a tad small.

                Confused by wiring

Comments about RadioShack Lighted 125VAC SPST Push On/Push Off Switch:

I too am confused by the wiring. I am going from a 12V source to a panel socket through this switch. The wiring diagram for the switch shows 3 terminals -- 2 large (marked B and C) separated by the switch, and a small one marked A mounted together with contact C.. So the hot power source line goes to B. Terminal C goes to the hot side of the socket. That leaves the wire to A, which I assume is the ground for the light. So I guess the ground from the power source goes here. But where do I go from there? The socket needs a ground, so do I go from A to the ground side of the socket?

This will be mounted in a plastic faceplate into a wooden locker on my boat -- no metal anyplace to ground to! The power source is the boat's main electrical panel - one lead to 12V DC, the other to ground. So the proposed path is from that ground to A on the switch to the ground on the socket. Is this right?

The instructions also state "For 120V AC only" but I figure if it can handle 10A at 120V it can handle 4A at 12V.

A posting such as "the switch works fine if properly wired" is of 0 help!

Any clarifications and/or suggestions gratefully appreciated!

This is one great switch, I love the glow of the light, it goes very well with tube gear, has the same color glow. I hope they keep making it because I love it.

It would be cool if I could separate the light from the switch but the polls are connected internally.
Then I could have the power switch on the back and use it as a stand by switch
