Cons Best Uses Comments about RadioShack 5VDC/1A SPDT Micro Relay: I installed this mini relay on a PC board and use it to isolate residual voltage to a LED. If any inline voltage exists, the LED will light dimly. I use the relay to kill the power side to LED and it is unlit, also you could kill the ground side as well with same results. An incandescent bulb with it's resistance will not burn until the resistance is met, but they get hot and usually pull more amps and do not last as long.

Comments about RadioShack 5VDC/1A SPDT Micro Relay: Solid state relays wear out just as fast as relays do.

Comments about RadioShack 5VDC/1A SPDT Micro Relay: Relay is overpriced - about twice what it should be but it's reliable and durable. The pin out does not match other readily available relays of this type so if you design a circuit around this relay, you may be stuck with it because you can't easily match the form factor else where. I recommend this relay for test, development and prototyping but find a cheaper relay with standard pin outs for production.

Comments about RadioShack 5VDC/1A SPDT Micro Relay: I used one of these relays to drive a motor door lock via a serial port DTR line with a transistor logic circuit. It worked straight away and still continues to function years later. I'll be using it again for future projects that need a last minute mechanical relay.

Best Uses Comments about RadioShack 5VDC/1A SPDT Micro Relay: Mechanical relays are cheap and easy to use, but they will eventually fail especially when used alot to switch heavy inductive loads. The best option is a solid state relay. Pros
Cons Best Uses Comments about RadioShack 5VDC/1A SPDT Micro Relay: Overpriced, but great for robotics & motor control. Small and very durable, they stand up to rugged use. Pros
Cons Best Uses Comments about RadioShack 5VDC/1A SPDT Micro Relay: I just bought two of these, so I could remotely switch between preamps in a guitar. They worked really well. No popping noises anywhere. Very quiet. I wish the leads were a bit longer cause it was hard to test them out in a breadboard. Pros
Cons Best Uses Comments about RadioShack 5VDC/1A SPDT Micro Relay: I wanted to use the relay for a 5 second delay start circuit on my robot so I can take it to a competition. Displaying reviews 1-8 |
