Comments about RadioShack 1/4" Stereo Panel-Mount Audio Jack (2-Pack):

Unlike another poster, the nuts on the jacks I got were metal.

I put four of these jacks in the metal panel that came with a 270-1805 enclosure. This jack needs a 3/8" hole. I used a "uni drill" step drill, and the panel holes were clean.

One problem is that when the jack's nut is tightened, it torques the inner (sleeve) solder terminal relative to the rest of the jack. IMO the terminals shouldn't move, but the sleeve terminal rotates and short to other parts of it. I had to loosen and re-tighten the nut a few times, repositioning the the sleeve terminal, and that was a pain. Even after all that, a continuity check showed that there was still a short that was traced to a rotated sleeve terminal, requiring another readjustment.

If you value your labor, this jack is way too expensive

Comments about RadioShack 1/4" Stereo Panel-Mount Audio Jack (2-Pack):

The holding nut is made of a cheap plastic and brakes easily. Contacts have the tendency to rotate while tightening

Comments about RadioShack 1/4" Stereo Panel-Mount Audio Jack (2-Pack):

I've used radio shack jacks in guitar effects pedals and to replace faulty jacks in guitars. They have always seemed to be very high quality and quality jacks are important.

I used it on guitar effect pedals, and it worked fine. I havent replaced them yet, though you do have to shake it every now and again.

I used these for for a guitar effect pedal.
Inserting a jack into these is very rough and requires force. After 20 uses, the ring contact bent backwards and the jack stopped working. I replaced it with a Switchcraft jack purchased from a guitar store which works perfectly.
