Comments about RadioShack 1.0µF 35V 20% Dipped Tantalum Capacitor: I'm writing to simply push up the rating of this excellent, completely typical tantalum capacitor. The complaints here, that are pulling down its ratings, are entirely from newbies who aren't bothering to make even the simplest examination of a part before installing it backward. The marking of this part is 100% per industry standards. If you looked for the most precise and expensive tantalum capacitor on the market, you could not find a more explicit marking than is on this part. Don't be afraid to use it. It does it's job well.

Best Uses Comments about RadioShack 1.0µF 35V 20% Dipped Tantalum Capacitor: So far I've had 2 of the 4 units that I've used fail. Even though they are being used at the output of a 5VDC regulator (LM317), they have basically "smoked". That makes me think that the capacitors actually are polarized, but there is NO indication of that on the unit, the unit's package or the RS web-site. "Junk" as far as I'm concerned.

Comments about RadioShack 1.0µF 35V 20% Dipped Tantalum Capacitor: This Capacitor provided me with consistent performance on my 555 timing circuit. Yes the capacitor is polarized and yes IT DOES SHOW WHICH SIDE IS POSITIVE. for those who are blind its the longer lead :P. (The lettering is quite small and can be hard for some people to see it but it is there.)

Pros
Cons Best Uses Comments about RadioShack 1.0µF 35V 20% Dipped Tantalum Capacitor: Don't worry about the polarity of this one, it's a non-polarized tantalum capacitor. It works either way. Pros Cons
Best Uses Comments about RadioShack 1.0µF 35V 20% Dipped Tantalum Capacitor: Most tantalum capacitors are polarized. This capacitor and it's packing has no indication of polarization. One lead being longer than the other may or may not be a hint in this instance. Without clear polarization marking it could be installed wrong and possibly damage equipment or the capacitor itself.
