25% dead rotation

By tinkerer

from SF, CA

About Me Power User

Pros

  • Good Length
  • Rugged

Cons

  • Inconsistent Signal

Best Uses

Comments about RadioShack 100K-Ohm Linear-Taper Potentiometer:

I also noticed that about the first 25% of clockwise rotation doesn't change the resistance at all. Beyond that point it seems to behave normally. This makes the pot more sensitive than it should be, but it may still work for your application.

    Best Uses

Comments about RadioShack 100K-Ohm Linear-Taper Potentiometer:

I bought one of these variable resistors and it worked fine. The resistance increased and decresaed nomally when rotated back and fourth.

Poor Performance from a Simple Product

      By Professional reviewer

      About Me Professional

      Pros

        Cons

        • Resistance was bad

        Best Uses

Comments about RadioShack 100K-Ohm Linear-Taper Potentiometer:

The potentiometer did not change its resistance for the first 1/3rd of its rotation. This caused a "wild goose chase" to find what was wrong with the circuit when it was just defective pots. By the way, we used (2) in the assembly. They both had the same defect. Normally I would consider the brand of pot to be good, but this shakes my confidence. I will probably not purchase any of these again because the lost time is just too costly.
