Comments about RadioShack Project Enclosure (4x2x1"): Board actually fits tight without screws. Holes may need slight enlargment ~1/64 to use screws.

Best Uses Comments about RadioShack Project Enclosure (4x2x1"): I built a hand-held counter with the box. The box wasn't big enough to fit Radio Shack's PCBs 276-150 nor 276-149a. Which boards should I use with this box? Had to shave the board and nip down most of the box's board supports to squeeze the board in. Also, there is a plastic smell that eminates from the box when shaving, nipping, etc. Is this odor poisonous? If so, put a warning on the label. And the mounts inside aren't so useful when there's no related parts that can fit. Radio Shack, please improve this product and made compatible boards that can fit into it.

Comments about RadioShack Project Enclosure (4x2x1"): This is a nice box, but I wish it had a snap lid. The screws can get in the way for a detailed project. As if it were made for a single use and remanufactured by radio shack as a project box in different sizes
Pros Cons Best Uses Comments about RadioShack Project Enclosure (4x2x1"): This plastic box is well made, and can be drilled without melting. However, the internal space is much less than 4 x 2 x 1. The max rectangular circuit board is limited to 1 5/8" x 2 15/16" due to the supports for the lid. The PC mounting studs are a tiny bit too close to allow a 9V battery to slide between then, so part of the circuit board space must be used for the battery (mounted on its side). The moulded slots, while nice for alternate PC board mounting, also limit the number and placement of connectors on the box. I had to grind one slot off to mount a power switch.
Pros
Cons Best Uses Comments about RadioShack Project Enclosure (4x2x1"): Used it to make an integrated garage door opener for my car. Worked great. It was annoying to lose space for the standoffs, but it wasn't the end of the world.
Pros Cons Best Uses Comments about RadioShack Project Enclosure (4x2x1"): Aluminum covers were all scratched beyoud use on all 5 enclosures I bought, even the suppied plastic cover has flaws in it. Internal box use is reduced by standoffs for top cover. PCB stand off dimensions are not supppied so your on your own and they do not follow standard PCB spacing.
Comments about RadioShack Project Enclosure (4x2x1"): Actual circuit board space available for use is diminished by molded-in standoffs for screwing down the circuit board (lying flat/parallel to the bottom) and the cover. A reasonable estimate of space lost at each corner is 0.4 in by 0.8 inches. Displaying reviews 1-10 Previous | Next » |
