Comments about RadioShack Project Enclosure (3x2x1"):

I'm adapting a Digital Instrument Cluster in a Ford Ranger & discovered I'd have a slight problem with display brightness at night. I designed a small circuit, a DTST relay & a aluminum housed power resistor on a Radio Shack 276-0148 1 & 3/4 inch square circuit board (just like one of the other reviewers). I decided after reading that person's review to go about mounting my board differently. Instead of trying to mount my board in the bottom of the project box I'll drill four holes and mount it to the top (aluminum cover) instead. This way I can side-step the vertical rib issue because only the components will protrude downward into the box, completely clearing the ribs. I guess you could say I turned the problem on it's head. Don't be pulled in by the mounting posts in the bottom. That isn't your only mounting option. I will need little stand-offs for my board but small nuts stacked together on the mounting screws will work nicely.

It seems incredible that RS would sell a project box with two detachable lids that does NOT include the necessary #4 screws!

Comments about RadioShack Project Enclosure (3x2x1"):

Okay, as you have read from other reviews, nice litle box but just as every other component in the "Shack" (really marketing guys...that's the best you got?) it lacks dimensions for the inner board and the store does not even sell a compatible board.

However, if you google "hobbygadgets", the first or second site sells compatible boards. THIS COMMENT IS IMPORTANT TO EVERYONE AS IT HELPS RADIOSHACK SELL MORE (more $$$ for you "Shack") OF THESE THINGS SINCE THEY WERE TOO LAZY TO INCLUDE NECESSARY MECHANICAL DRAWINGS AND HELPS PEOPLE GET ON WITH THEIR PROJECTS!!!

Comments about RadioShack Project Enclosure (3x2x1"):

Hey Crazy Mike: the ribs are for mounting small circuit boards vertically allowing for more boards to be placed in the box. The mounting holes in the bottom are an odd distance. Screws for mounting a board in the box would be nice or at least a blurb on the packaging to say what size screw is needed.
Screws for closing the lid are a little long. Cannot understand why they keep placing this box on clearance!

This is a good plastic project box that fits well. Forget the aluminum lid, though, because it does not fit well and will get stuck inside the box.

There's lots of PCB mounting options, but the packaging doesn't have dimensions of the mounting holes. So I had to get my calipers out and measure it myself. It looks like they are 1.5" x 1.25". With the availability of free CAD software, it would make sense for you guys to have a drawing on-line.
