Best Uses Comments about RadioShack Screw-Cap Panel-Mount Fuse Holder: Don't overtighten the nut. I use an external tooth lockwasher before the nut for a secure fit without tightening the nut too much. The nut is too thin, and the plastic body splits in half if overtightened, that is, if the threads don't strip first. Carefully bend the side lug with needlenose pliers slightly outward to solder. Don't separate the tab from the cartridge with your finger. I've used dozens of these, broken a few, and would like to find a substitute with the same diameter, but no luck so far. Any suggestions?
Pros Cons Best Uses Comments about RadioShack Screw-Cap Panel-Mount Fuse Holder: Total waste of time and gas.

Comments about RadioShack Screw-Cap Panel-Mount Fuse Holder: Even after reading all the bad reviews on this item, I thought it couldn't be that bad. Purchased and installed holder in appliance, and since holder had the smaller spade terminals also soldered matching female connectors to wires. Remembering the bad reviews, I very carefully pushed terminals together and snap. A piece of plastic tread broke off and the entire spade/outer contact popped out of the holder. What a waste of time!

Comments about RadioShack Screw-Cap Panel-Mount Fuse Holder: The nearest RS is 25 miles from me. I'm about to go there for THE THIRD TIME for another replacement. Yes, I'm handling this very delicately, no matter. I'm a tech and this project needs to be done in two days; that's why I didn't order it by Internet from somewhere else.
Pros
Cons Best Uses Comments about RadioShack Screw-Cap Panel-Mount Fuse Holder: I carefully soldered the leads without bending the tab on the side. Not a problem really.
Pros Cons Best Uses Comments about RadioShack Screw-Cap Panel-Mount Fuse Holder: This may well be the cheapest piece of garbage I have ever tried to use. It breaks at the slightest provocation. Unfortunately I needed one NOW and could not wait to have one shipped in so I ended up buying three of them after the first two broke. This is a piece of junk even by Radio Shack standards. I can't believe they sell this thing. If I could I would give it zero stars but this review form forces me to give it at least one.
Pros Cons
Best Uses Comments about RadioShack Screw-Cap Panel-Mount Fuse Holder: I bought two of these fuse holders, one for a spare and the other to use today. I installed the first one and it snapped into two pieces as I tightened the nut. After I installed the second one and began to solder the wire to the side terminal the plastic surrounding it broke. I finally had to get a fuse holder from an old project that I built in the 1980's!!! It worked fine; made by Buss.
Pros Cons Best Uses Comments about RadioShack Screw-Cap Panel-Mount Fuse Holder: The threaded plastic barrel breaks under the slightest outward pressure on the terminal.
Pros Cons Best Uses Comments about RadioShack Screw-Cap Panel-Mount Fuse Holder: Well it's pretty much the same as just about everyone else. I put a little pressure on it when I tightened it and SNAP! Broke right in two.
Pros Cons Best Uses Comments about RadioShack Screw-Cap Panel-Mount Fuse Holder: If only I could have known somehow that this was likely to break. Actually I did read the reviews here and I did know that. With this in mind I was very careful and still broke the plastic. I used pliers to hold the tab while bending it so it didn't strain the plastic, but when I attached the connector it pushed forward and broke. As someone else mentioned I used loads of hot glue to make it work. If you absolutely need this and can't get it anywhere else use pliers and hold on to the metal tab while doing anything with it, if it touches the plastic threading it will break.
