The test leads are better than the ones made by radio shack which have about a dozen uses before the break apart this must be planned obsolescence because when I make a pair of these in my own home they last for years under daily use.

Comments about RadioShack Mini Test Clip Adapters:

I purchased a set of these around 1997 when I was taking electronics classes. One of the guys in class said they would help out with making tests. I didn't and still don't use them everyday, but they held up for me. I was able to push them on the test leads and then pull them back off without any problem. I still have them in my box today.

Comments about RadioShack Mini Test Clip Adapters:

I've used these for many years in TV & stereo repair and have only gone through a few sets, so they're fairly rugged (assuming they're still making them like they used to).

The plastic doesn't generally fail. It tends to be the hook metal that fatigues and breaks off, usually the red/positive hook (understandable, since it sees much more use in my applications, being relocated to various test points while the black is left on a convenient GND).

Incidentally, RS used to offer alligator adapters for DMM probes which are great for clipping on a chassis GND while probing +V with the red hook.

If you do repair work, I don't need to remind you of the usefulness of clips.
For others wondering whether they need these, I'll point out the obvious: they leave the user free to change controls on equipment and/or consult service data and not risk a slipping probe tip (a potential disaster).

These hooks are too large/cumbersome to grip short component leads (e.g., transistors whose bodies are too near the PCB) or short or pushed (bent) solder-side leads (the weight of the average DMM probe handle doesn't help here). They're larger than the standard "easy hooks", for example.

These fit snugly but not too tightly on a number of different probe tips I've tried. I haven't had them separate accidentally during use, but they're easy to remove when desired.

The only thing I'd change, other than perhaps making the hook slightly smaller (which would unfortunately compromise ruggedness to a degree) is add short protrustions (tabs or a ring) on the head or or elongate the shaft (or offer an extended version!) or put tabs farther back near the DMM probe handle so they'd be easier to manipulate in confined spaces.
The current design makes them difficult to use in cramped areas due to the way one must hold them -- knuckles get in the way!

The price is right on these and unless you really abuse them, they'll last a reasonable amount of time.

I have "easy hook" adapter cables, but for sheer speed of switching from needle tip to hook and back (and with various test leads with different meters), I come back to these more often than other solutions.

Comments about RadioShack Mini Test Clip Adapters:

I bought these clips to probe header pins on my computer mainboard.First, I had trouble attaching them to my test probes. I tried two different pair of probes, but clips would not push on.Then I tried a bit more force, and they did go on,but felt very flimsy on the probe. It would not take much to break these, with standard probes.Contrary to the review stating these are not removable, I was able to remove them, but the cap of one clip came off, and it was a bear to put back on.I decided that I could not use these as advertised, so they are going back to the store.I will order the Pomona clips for a little more money from [@] instead.

Every DVM should have a set of these! They are removable on all the pin meter probe set's that we use for in-house & field uses.

We get them from our local RS store.

Comments about RadioShack Mini Test Clip Adapters:

Clips go onto the top of standard needle-type test probes. Note that they cannot be removed, so if you put them over your only pair of probes, realize they are now test clip probes only.
