Comments about RadioShack Aluminum Project Enclosure: I am using this box to make a tube amp....

Comments about RadioShack Aluminum Project Enclosure: This project box is capable of housing the five SPDT switches needed for a MCDP Remote Unit - they all fit just fine. Normally, the MCDP Remote Unit is about 5" x 4" x 2", but this project box is just around the ballpark. The MCDP Remote Unit will turn out a bit narrow (5 1/4" x 3" x 2 1/8"), but it's compactness is an added plus if you carry such a tool in your bag. If you don't know what a MCDP Remote Unit is, don't worry about it, this project box has lots of uses. I plan to buy more as I need them.

Comments about RadioShack Aluminum Project Enclosure: Radio Shack used to have a couple of smaller aluminum boxes, but this is the only size they have now. I wish the smaller ones were still available since a lot of what I build could fit in a box half the size. But then Radio Shack used to sell a lot of DIY parts that they no longer sell, so it's either take what's handy or buy on line.

Comments about RadioShack Aluminum Project Enclosure: The versatility is endless and since I manufacture custom stomp boxes, I need an enclosure that is customizable and can take repeated abuse.. The best bang for your buck!!

Comments about RadioShack Aluminum Project Enclosure: -I've used this box for many different projects, such as resistive speaker simulators, bench power supplies, and other useful small tools. In a modular setting this box could be even more useful. My gripe about it is that they don't offer a larger box. I'd definitely jump on one if RS offered one twice as large, as it would be good for complete projects. Another improvement would be a change in shape. I've often had to decide which half of the box to mount components on to avoid connecting both sides of the clam shell with wires.

Cons Best Uses Comments about RadioShack Aluminum Project Enclosure: this is a really great box for use with high voltage applications. the thing that is so great about it is that it is very easy to ground it. when working with 120VAC, it is important to ground your projects!!!!!

Comments about RadioShack Aluminum Project Enclosure: I use this box to house an antenna mounted pre-amp for the VHF Weather Satellite Band between 137 and 138 Mhz. Not being weatherproof does not present a problem,as I use PVC pipe over this enclosure to make it weather resistant.
