Comments about RadioShack Electret Microphone Element with Leads:

An excellent low cost element that can rival those found in high dollar microphones. Cost is minimal and, with some technical know-how, anyone can configure this to specific useage. As to reviewer's comments below on "Condenser" vs "Electret" titles, please note that this element is officially an "Electret Condenser" element and is commonly known by both/either the "Electret" and "Condenser" names.

Comments about RadioShack Electret Microphone Element with Leads:

I needed three microphones for circuits I designed. Each PC board needed one mic, Radio Shack sends two microphones and a small speaker, which has similar packaging and has a similar part number. Not much help from the local store in getting a replacement.

Comments about RadioShack Electret Microphone Element with Leads:

This microphone is a pretty good deal for the price, but, the schematics ion the packaging were near useless, as the letters were so small and poorly printed as to be nigh impossible to read.
Furthermore, there is a discrepancy between the labeling of the product on the package (condenser microphone), and the designation of the product online, (electret microphone).

It takes a bit of time to find any decent documentation on this piece, and i would not recommend it unless one is willing to do one's research.

And, as an after remark on the product itself, the leads of the mic have a tendency to fray, causing a great deal of difficulty whilst one is bread boarding.

It is well worth the price, but barely worth the hassle one will have whilst wiring it.

Just as good as many very high end packaged pencil type microphones. Has usable frequency range well outside human hearing. Superb transient response and low noise.

Comments about RadioShack Electret Microphone Element with Leads:

Well, I would say this is a great product, but that I would just say that the labeling on the package is different from what it says on the website. On the package, it says "Condenser Microphone Element", while the website says "Electret Microphone Element with Leads". That threw me off when I tried to find circuit schematics online.
