Comments about RadioShack® Magnet-Mount CB Antenna:

I needed a magnet antenna. No other store around but the Shack. I've used other magnet antenna's from Radio shack in the past with decent rusults. This was the only one they had in the store. Very disappointed. Should be sold with an SWR meter, and even then it might not tune. They should go back to one of their older designs. It's just not a good antenna. Been a cb hobbyist for over 20 years.

Comments about RadioShack® Magnet-Mount CB Antenna:

Lists it can handle 50 watts. But when I try to use it any thing under ch 20 will not transmit and I get bad SWR back.

I swapped it for a new one and the swr was lower at 1.2 over 1~40 but when I would transmit with 50 Watts same thing would happen and I am unable to transmit! Dead keying was fine but when I would talk the radio would get some feed back... after trying a Wilson 1000 it is working fine! This radio Shack antenna is JUNK!

this antenna might work with stock 4 watts but if you plan on using it on 11/10 meters at a higher power look for a Wilson 1000/5000 I have one on now and it works fine!

Comments about RadioShack® Magnet-Mount CB Antenna:

I like this antenna, put simply it works good. For what it is (a short magnet mount) you really couldn't ask for more. I bought it for my work van, (I can't drill holes in the bosses property) as I am constantly on the road doing service calls on forklifts. I know for sure I have 3 mile range, probably more. It doesn't move on the roof at 75mph (or sometimes faster) and I get clear reception on both CB and WX. It's easy to set up as you just run the cable and stick it on the roof (I use mine dead center toward the rear of the van, I include this as sometimes with antennas location makes a difference). Bottom line I am very happy with this product for what it is (it is not a 102 inch 1/4 wave antenna)and would recommend this to anyone who can't use a permenant antenna.

Comments about RadioShack® Magnet-Mount CB Antenna:

In preparation for the 2012 ARRL Field Day, I needed an antenna to use for 10 meters. In tuning the antenna, it needed to be cut down approximately 3/8", and the SWR from 28.300 to 28.500 is 1.3:1.

Within the first ten minutes of operating with this QRP (5 watts), I made a QSO from Southeastern Washington to Southern New Mexico.

So what started as a temporary antenna is now being considered for full time / long term use!

Bought the antenna from the local store. It was very very inconsistant to tune I tried many positions on the roof. And two seperate locations to try to tune it. I got fed up and returned it. The store clerk first tried to say that he had already taken the register money to the bank. And did not want to take my return at first. I found this reather frustrating as well. I purchased a K30 magnetic mount ant. Tuned up in about 25 minutes 1.8 on channels 1 and 40 and 1.1 on channel 20. Much much easier to set up. Would recomend that or a 'lil Wil antenna.

Comments about RadioShack® Magnet-Mount CB Antenna:

Bought two antennas and two Uniden Pro538W radios for cross country trip. Could not get either antenna tuned, SWR was way too high on all channels on both radios no matter how much adjustments I made. Just too difficult to tune. It made two-communications unusable! The NOAA Weather Channels worked ok but antennas picked up so much interference. Unfortunately too late to return these antennas. Dont't waste your money.

This is a good looking antenna, it looks durable, and magnet is strong enough to keep the antenna safe in the top of the roof of my 4x4. But is not easy to tune up with a low SWR, it is very very sensitive about the position in top of the roof, you can get it fine tuned but you need to try every inch of the roof for the best position, if you move its position one centimeter it will change the SWR reading. The stainless stell whip needs to be calibrated carefully raising or lowering it by millimeters, it is very sensitive in that setting too. The signal transmittion is not strong but it do the job strictly for a temporary instalation of a CB antenna in a car, if you need a good CB antenna for your car, better try the non-expensive RadioShack® Stainless Steel Mobile CB Antenna (21-988), make sure it is well grounded and it will surprise you with its perfomance. I have both antennas and I have tried them in many situations.

Comments about RadioShack® Magnet-Mount CB Antenna:

I have this antenna mounted on the bedrails of my truck. The mag mount holds very well and stood the test of 2 hours on the highway doing 70mph. The only reason I gave 4 stars is that this antenna is INCREDIBLY sensitive to tuning adjustments. When tuning, at first i used the recommended 1/8th inch increments but found one spot where the SWR was high on 1 (3.0) and low on 40 (1.3). So I pulled an 1/8th inch out to correct it and they flipped. It was then high on 40 and low on 1! It changed that drastically in the space of an 1/8th inch! I then moved down to a 1/16th inch increment and finally found a spot i was satisfied with. I got a 1.2 on ch.1 and a 1.8 on ch.40 which was fine with me since i spend my time below ch.20 anyway. ch.20 to ch.40 still TXs well. All in all not a bad antenna IF you are patient enough to get the tuning right!
