Unfortunately this antenna does not work as marketed. The reception is very poor and I get an antenna warning from my Cobra CB. It's not adjustable and I've tried everything else to fix problem to no avail. It will be returned back to radio shack.

This antenna is awful, I put it on my uniden 520 and tried to tune it and my swr was way above three and this thing cannot be adjusted. Definitely going somewhere else for my next antenna.

I bought this antenna as a temporary base setup.It was easy to setup and i got low swr's.(1.0 or below).The problem was i did not receive well and barely tranmitted anything on my stock 148gtl.The radio is new out the box i figured i should get something.I setup another antenna just to see the difference and i was able to receive and trasmit although it was not great either.Get a better antenna and save yourself the time and money.The people who work at the store were also not very knowledgeable about cb stuff anymore.

could not talk to any one my 20" cheap-o from [...] work a 1000 times better. When i took it back the guy who worked at radio shack told me it didn't work cuz i did not have it grounded right are you kidding me it a no-ground cb antenna

THE COAX THAT COMES WITH THE ANTENNA IS JUNK.THE CENTER CONDUCTOR WIRE IS NOT SOLDERED FOA GOOD CONNECTION RESULTING IN HIGH SWR AND EQUIPMENT DAMAGE. DONT RISK YOUR EQIPMENT. STICK WITH WILSON OR HYGAIN.

This antenna is a compromise antenna, as are all no-ground antennas, and should be viewed within that scope. A no ground antenna gives up certain performance factors to gain acceptable SWR ratings in instalations where no ground plane connection is available. You use a no-ground antenna in aplications where for what ever reason a ground plane dependent antenna will not work. A no-ground antenna uses the coax cable for counterpoise in liew of a connected ground plane. This results in a certain amount of RF energy being absorbed by the specially designed coax cable.

It is also important to use the included coax cable with this antenna and not shorten it or replace it with standard coax. Using different coax or modifying the included coax is a sure fire way to botch either the antenna and/or the radio and not get good performance.

I installed one on my Jeep over a year ago. I go out four-wheeling in the Mojave Desert and the San Bernardino Mountains and really jar the antenna around. It is holding up very well. I have no trouble with transmitting or receiving.

I'm purchasing a 2nd antenna for my son's birthday to put on his Jeep!

Put it inside my home for a temporary base have not been able to talk to anyone since. And paid a premium price for this antenna.

Put on a Cobra, attached to a non-grounding surface. Did not pick up much. When I would key the mic, it would show full power, but the signal was too weak. I could reach people better with my portable, couldn't hear nothing from this setup. There is no such thing as a non-ground antenna.
