Bought 2 of these yesterday (1 to replace and 1 for a spare). Replaced this relay on a Ford 2000 ZX2 Escort CCRM (Constant Control Module). Works great after a few moments of soldering.

This relay can be used to repair the Constant Current Relay Module (CCRM) in 97-02 Ford Escort cars. The relay controls the AC compressor. If the AC stops working suddenly, this relay in the module is highly suspect. The CCRM is under the air filter under the hood - a rectangular steel box.

Comments about RadioShack 7-9VDC/12A SPDT Relay, Mini:

THIS RELAY DOES NOT WORK AT 7 VOLTS AND REQUIRES ABOUT 9.5 TO CLOSE. IT WAS RATED AT 12 AMPERES THAT IS INCORRECT. IT MELTED DOWN AT A TAD MORE THAN 4 AMPERES AFTER ONLY 15 MINUTES OF USE WITH 12 VOLTS ACROSS THE CONTACTS.
                    ITEM IS MISS LABLED.
THE WIRES ARE VERY THIN AND LOOK LIKE ABOUT A 1 OR 2 AMP CURRECT RATING.

Description says 7-9VDC - this is not the case.Used a 9V battery to test - battery outputs 9.5V according to multimeter. Relay works fine - can hear audible 'clicking.'Using equipment that outputs about 9.18V, relay will not close - only very faint 'click' and not enough to close the circuit.[...]

This relay was perfect for the odd-balled voltage level I had available to control the circuit I needed to switch. A 12 vdc relay would not have adequately pulled in... a 5 vdc relay wouldn't have worked without complicating the circuit with additional voltage dropping/dividing components. The relay contacts are switching 120 vac @ .5 amps without a hitch!

Comments about RadioShack 7-9VDC/12A SPDT Relay, Mini:

I used the relay to build a watchdog circuit that monitors that status of my computer-controlled telephone system. A regular, no-frills telephone serving as the emergency phone is connected directly to the phone jack, but can be switched on and off by the output of the relay (using the normally closed position). When everything is running fine, the relay is on (switch off), and the emergency phone does not ring. In the event of a power loss or a computer crash, the watchdog will turn off the relay (switch on), and the emergency phone will be put in service. I've been pleased with the reliability of this relay.
