Comments about RadioShack® Adjustable (10-24AWG) Wire Stripper:

        Dave

It took me a second to figure out exactly how to get the desired opening size as well, but once I figured it out they work flawlessly as is!!!

There is no need to switch screws or perform any other mods in order to get them to function properly.

There are no instructions so I will make is very, very, simple for everyone.

        The steps are as follows:

        1. Loosen nut on the screw and adjust until you find the desired opening that is necessary for stripping the intended wire.

        2. !!!VERY FIRMLY SQUEEZE!!! down on the pliers until the screw is pinched to the point where it will not slide when tightening.

        3. Take the closed end of an 8MM wrench or socket and tighten down the nut.

Once you follow these three simple steps you will be on your way to effectively stripping wire of any gauge, literally!!!

For the price this is hands down the best pair of strippers available!!!

        Enjoy

        Rob

Comments about RadioShack® Adjustable (10-24AWG) Wire Stripper:

This has a round-head machine screw and nut in a slot in one of the handles that serves as a stop for the other handle. The opening between the blades can be adjusted for different wire gauges by resetting the position of the machine screw in the slot. It's just about impossible to get the desired adjustment the way the tool is sold, with the round head of the machine screw acting as the stop. Before you even try it, take the nut off, reverse the machine screw in the slot, and put the nut back on from the other side. Then a flat side of the nut, rather than the head of the machine screw, will act as the stop for the other handle, and adjustment will be fairly easy. I hope they'll make this correction and start selling it that way.
