        False advertising at its finest

        Best Uses

Comments about RadioShack CK-1000 Basic Electronic Parts Kit:

This product was very poorly planned on Radio Shack's part. It says on the box "Level 1 Novice, no prior experience" and that's a lie. None of the parts are labeled, there's no paper detailing anything (schematic symbols, band coloring, etc), no project booklet to introduce or get used to the different components, and I have yet to find a project on Radio Shack's project page that uses just one of these kits.

The only reason for two stars is because it does come with a nice array of components. Other than that this was a total fail in planning and implementation for Radio Shack and borders closely to false advertising.

Comments about RadioShack CK-1000 Basic Electronic Parts Kit:

This little kit is great when introducing people to electronics. It is nice that when you discuss individual components that you can hand one to them and they make that connection. It is also a great kit to build sample circuits to demonstrate how each of the components works and to show the students how to verify their ohm's law calculations. It would be great if this came with a breadboard but that is not the case.

Comments about RadioShack CK-1000 Basic Electronic Parts Kit:

I performed a detailed inventory of the items as soon as I opened the box, and everything was included. Since I'm a n00b, I had to use deductive reasoning to figure out what the heck I was inventorying, since nothing was labelled. Never the less, it was all there. I'm pretty happy with the variety of components included too. More than enough to keep a novice user occupied for months trying to figure out how to make use of everything. Overall, I'd say it was a pretty good deal.

Comments about RadioShack CK-1000 Basic Electronic Parts Kit:

            Not everything listed was included.
My kit was missing some parts. Also NOTHING was labled. You had to guess what some things were. If you are not familiar with all the components It can be confusing trying to figure out what some of the parts are. Too Pricey for the quality you get.

            - 22ga wire (5ft each; 25ft total): black, red, orange, yellow, green

I wish the kit came with premade jumper wires for breadboarding (or just no wires at all so the double-size compartment they're in could be split in half), but not a bad deal as far as RS goes.
