Comments about LG® Tracfone® LG 840G No-Contract Phone:

Be aware !! I discovered this phone will charge u for an entire page of text, when u use just one certain character.
This phone is very random, will send and call, seemingly on its own.
There r some good point, texting so much better than the flip phone, but u soon realize just how limmited this is.
When a call comes in, the screen lock comes off, u can't pick it up without the phone doing some random function ...

ORDERED RECENTLY AND CHARGED IT UP LAST NIGHT. TRIED TO ACTIVATE TODAY AND WAS WAS TOLD BY TRACFONE THAT THE SIM CARD NUMBER IS INVALID. NEVER HEARD OF SUCH A THING. THIS WAS FACTORY INSTALLED. NOW I HAVE 3-5 DAYS MORE TO WAIT UNTIL THE SIM CARD NUMBER COMES BY SNAIL MAIL. I MIGHT JUST RETURN THE PHONE TO RADIO SHACK. TOTALLY DISGUSTED!

Great for texting. Will not pick up signals in some houses. Very bad signal. Bad battery life. Have used tracfones for 10 years. This one has the worse signal pick up. Sorry.

            Comments about LG® Tracfone® LG 840G No-Contract Phone:

Just needed a phone to keep in contact with my wife and long distance calls to family. Will use this to replace big monthly bill with the Big phone company. With two phones and triple minutes, we can get our yearly phone bill under $150. We did 160 minutes the first month testing it out. Good reception, no delays, dropouts or missed calls (Bay Area, CA). Took it to Hawaii, no change in performance. Texting is great, screen keyboard fine (automatically goes to landscape display for this). Included apps I love: Alarm, camera, voice recorder and notepad. Also good is voicemail and airplane mode. Biggest problem will be Tracfone service since they tend to wax and wane. Everything great after 3 months of continuous use.

            Comments about LG® Tracfone® LG 840G No-Contract Phone:

I upgraded from the LG500G, and recieved the LG840G as a christmas present not even up to A year ago. t was a really nice phone-- for a while. Probably two months after, I would turn on the phone and it would deduct a random amount of minutes. The phone wasn't off, it was on standby. I'm only allowed to get a 60 minute card every three months, and I was only able to use the newly bought minutes for a short period of time. So the tracfone was unusable until I bought a new card, and this process would continue. The second time this happened, I called Tracfone customer service, which first of all, it took A while to get to a real person. Once I did, the person helping me said there was no cause and they would look for what was causing the problems. She told me to call back in a few weeks, and when I did, they never answered again. The deducting continued, and now I'm trying to find a new company to turn to. Another thing is the keyboard. its very hard to use efficently. When I'm typing a note or texting someone, i will start to read over what i typed and I not understand what I wrote. It adds random letters to when I want to type a word and then it's hard to try and fix them. another thing is it calls people without me even pressing a contact. yes, rarely it is "butt dialing" but when its just laying on its own, it will begin to call a bunch a people. it took a while to realize this, but when i check how many minutes I have, its like half the amount i had the day before, which was ridiculous. lastly, and this just started to happen about a month ago- whenever I"m on the phone, it will randomly shut off, start over, and reboot, like I physically turned off the phone , myself but i didn't.

                Comments about LG® Tracfone® LG 840G No-Contract Phone:

I think the signal strength varies depending on location. We live in rural Gadsden County FL & the signals are fine. It's a GMS phone (not CDMA) & uses the ATT network. The LG840 G works great, though the screen is a little too sensitive at times. You can buy silicone jelly skins now online & the triple minutes for life is a great feature. The only place it won't work well sometimes is deep in a big store. The ringtone & call volume are adjustable-juts go online & check the tutorials to see how to do this. My wife prefers the LG500G because of the qwerty button keyboard, but I'm fine with the touchscreen virtual keyboard.
