When I first bought the phone it worked great. After a couple months the battery life started to go quickly and my phone started to come apart. now my phone is hanging on by a wire. i cant even pick it up without it coming apart. i would not buy this phone again.

works fine except for when you accedentaly bump or hit the phone it shuts off, it also frequently crashes in browser. good phon, except that it never stays on

it crashes when trying to change the background which i still havent been able to accomplish after about 40 attempts. it crashes about every fifth song when playing music.

I bought the Rise as a backup to my Evo V 4G and it was quickly returned. Make no mistake, this is a cheap phone. From the barely adequate battery life to the abysmal lo-res screen the Rise just screams "budget phone".

The build quality is Tinker Toy level and I seriously doubt it would last more than six months of daily use. The physical keyboard is poorly designed with mushy keys and intermittent click feedback. The slide mechanism is of very poor quality and the upper row of keys is far too close to the body for easy typing. Unfortunately the virtual keyboard is no better. A hyper-sensitive screen and crowded spacing guaranties errant key strokes. This leads to the Rise's biggest fail, the horrendous display. I've never seen a modern smart phone that had a display so low quality that you can literally see the individual pixels from 2 feet away. The display is murky, dark and of such a low resolution that watching a video or streaming Netflix is out of the question. Not that the dinky battery is up to the challenge of streaming anything. Netflix and IheartRadio will drain the battery in a matter of hours and recharging takes a minimum of 5 hours.

Save your money. The excellent HTC One V is available for not much more, with great battery life and very nice display.

i have to use my phone for school... too bad it randomly cuts off all the time. if you get this phone, keep a charger close! i have already got this exact same phone TWICE for free from virgin mobile, AND got a new battery for free from virgin moble, and it STILL always cuts off no matter how much you charge it. i charge it over night ever night, AND pretty much all the time when i use it.

This is my first new smartphone since my early BlackBerry Curve, which got eaten by a dog -- literally -- in Central America last December. I love most of the things about the Kyocera Rise, and would have given it 4 or 5 stars except for the power management. Battery life is atrocious. GPS Navigation drained the battery in less than 3 hours EVEN WHILE CHARGING. I can watch 2 or 3 hours of streaming video at most, although it's not as bad as GPS Nav on power. Anything that updates the screen and connects (phone net, WiFi, doesn't matter) sucks it dry very quickly. Recharging can only be described as tediously slow.

If you can recharge this phone more than once a day, you will probably like it. The price makes it a good value, and I love the QWERTY keyboard and the sharp screen. But if you only get to plug it in at night (or heaven forbid need it to work for two days or more without recharging) then better stick to texting or infrequent phone calls. That, or get a different phone.

I bought this during a promotion, and am very happy with it. The biggest downside I can see is that there is no extended battery available for it yet, as the battery life is pretty dismal. Still, if you're looking for an entry level Android phone with a full keyboard, this is the one to get. Keep a charger nearby though.

I use the wifi at home and work, and the 3g is just fine when I'm away from wifi.

I don't play a lot of games other than Words With Friends and Scrabble, so I'm not sure how well it works for first person shooters. For the games I do play, it works great.

Another downside is that apparently you cannot disable the camera shutter sound without rooting the device, even if the camera is in silent mode. That's a pretty bad design flaw, but not that big of a deal for me.

i would definitely recommend this phone to anybody that wants a good entry-level smartphone, but doesn't want to be paying 80 dollars a month like you would have to with Verizon or AT&T. I have had this phone for about a month now it it has good gaming in it, good internet, good signal, so if you want a good smartphone, GO TO RADIO SHACK AND BUY THIS PHONE NOW!
