Good Buy

By languer

Pros

  • Easy to use
  • Good price
  • Knowlegable staff

Cons

  • none

Best Uses

  • Prototype
  • Web Client

Comments about SEEED ARD124B2P Ethernet Shield:

This is most definitely worth the cost. It works as well as the Arduino (made) shield for a lower price. I also have the Wiznet Serial-to-Ethernet bridge which I wanted to use as a Web Client. That did not work. Decided to quickly go to RadioShack and get this. Excellent choice. The girl at the store was also very friendly and had some good (technical) info to share on this.

Meh...

By Grumpy Pants

Pros

  • It works

Cons

  • No Female Headers On Top
  • No sd card slot

Best Uses

  • Need Ethernet Now

Comments about SEEED ARD124B2P Ethernet Shield:

I bought this out of convenience at my local Radio Shack. It's got an old model with no SD card slot and it doesn't come with female headers. You can buy a way faster shield with SD and headers for the same price or less on the internet, but, it was an impulse buy so I can't complain. The card works fine got what it's intended to do...provide an internet connection to an Arduino. Just don't expect to use it as a stand alone web-server. I'm currently using it, paired with an Uno R3 and an RHT03 temp/humidity sensor, to log data and post it to my website. That sketch alone has taken up 85% of the Uno's internal memory. I would not buy this shield again, simply because you can get so much more for the same price.

Seeed Ethernet Shield A good accessory

Comments about SEEED ARD124B2P Ethernet Shield:

I'm not sure the model I got from the Radio Shack is the one they sell now. Mine is a Seeed Studios Version 1. I think Seeed is up to v3 now. This is really cool to fool around with. The Arduino software comes with a lot of programs(they call them sketchs) that will make it work right away. I don't do Twitter but they have a program where it will display a user's twits. It comes set to screen name "arduino" but you can easily change it to whatever you want. I have it on"ravens" now and it's receiving updates on the playoff game. It's fun and easy to use.Mine won't take an SD card, but it cost less because of that. I didn't know what it would do but I'm glad I got it.
