Product Summary

Get your motors running.

This Motor Shield is a platform for robotics and mechanical projects based on the H-bridge driver chip L298N motor driver integrated circuit. It can power two brushed DC motors or one 4-wire two-phase stepper motor. It requires a 6V to 15V power supply to power the motor and has an onboard 5V voltage regulator which can power the main board (Xduino) (selectable by jumper). Both motors can be driven simultaneously while set to a different speed and direction. All driver lines are diode protected from back EMF.

  • Arduino/Seeed compatible, PWM speed control mode and 4 direction LED indicators
  • Grove compatible, logic control voltage: 3.3-5.5V and motor supply voltage: 6-15V
  • Output current (each channel): max 2000mA and dimension: 68.5x54.5x29.5mm

                    Comments about SEEED Motor Shield:

I bought this with the level 1 arduino motor pack thinking that the two would be compatible. This has 14 four pin connectors and two connectors for dc motors. The motor pack comes with two dc motors that connect fine but the servos are both three pin and the steeper motor is five pin. Bad form, RS. Documentation is not very good for this shield either. Haven't gotten anything to work with it yet.

it uses the L298 driver which is nice for using higher current motors, decent price, you don't have to use an arduino will work with other micro controllers, i was already using a L298 chip so this was a drop in replacement

                                        Comments about SEEED Motor Shield:

I intend to stack this board on a sensor board and a PWM board. But there is no documentation to help me prevent conflicting pins. I went to seeedstudio website and found no pinout diagrams. Where do all those external male pins (52 of them) go? Get ready for a lot of detective work to figure out how to interface this to your Arduino.
I have given positive reviews on most Radio Shack products.

Contradicting another reviewer, but it *does* support servos, but only 3 as far as I can tell, via the white connectors who's pin 1 go to D3, D5 and D6. Plus those connectors aren't quite standard for servos, so some wire hackery may be necessary.

                                          Comments about SEEED Motor Shield:

This is an excellent low-cost board to drive a single stepper or two DC motors. This board contains 14 Grove connectors for interfacing external Grove modules. The specs state that it supports 14 servos but this is not correct. The Grove ports are not even wired in a way you could use them for servos. Overall, a very nice board with an unfortunate documentation error.
